[It's holiday time again in Taiwan's house - or it would be, if she weren't trapped in Mayfield.  But still, she tends to take her holidays pretty seriously even here, and generally likes to share the spirit of the celebration with other people even if they don't know her specific customs.  So have a telephone call, assorted non-drone citizens of ( Read more... )

I've pretty much told you about all of them, I think. Dad, mom, Master Kim, Master Jhun...

Yeah. You've had some pretty great teachers in your life.

I'm mostly just lucky that Master Kim and my dad served in the same unit in their tour of duty.

[/before she comes round to see China]

Are you going to do something for teacher then?

[bro would be celebrating it to, but since he was handed back to China, he now celebrates it on September 10th instead. and big bro wasn't here then obviously]

Yeah, I'm coming over later. I think I'm going to make some bubble tea. He seemed proud that I've developed my own traditions and ways of doing things, so I thought I'd show him something I came up with on my own.

Teachers suck. I've never had a good one. I hate them all.

But... Patchouli and chaos are tutoring me, and...they're -really- good at it. They're my friends.

...I'm sorry to hear that, but at least you've found some good friends who are willing to teach you things.

...Yeah.

It's kind of stupid...I have friends here and a little brother and a mom that's good to me. Back home? I've got nobody and my mom's crazy.

[He's never gotten to talk about him with anyone here, so here goes nothing.]

Ah, well, my family moved and traveled a lot, so I never attended an actual school until right before I got to Mayfield. I had some tutors, but mostly I was taught everything by a friend of the family who helped take care of me. Marco Angelucci. He pretty much taught me everything in life, and I spent most of my time with him... I miss him a lot.

It's always nice when a teacher can also be a close friend. He must've been really close with your parents.

Yeah, they were. They trusted him a lot. But they have every right to, Uncle Marco is a great guy.
