I've never really been one to dislike my home country - I've always been appreciative of what America has to offer, but I also have tried to look at its flaws also. Anyway, my like/dislike for America has always balanced out in the end. I may not always agree with what my country does (along with about 99% of other Americans) but I've never ( Read more... )

I am sure this is just a phase right now. I have always thought of living in Japan also but I then realized that it is too much of a hassle to learn a new language to communicate every day with, and not have veggies and fruit when I want due to the fact that it is so expensive...

I am not even going to mention about the home sickness.

I had that too- believe me, it's not as easy as it seems. Getting an entry-level job as a foreigner is pretty damn impossible in the general workforce. And being absorbed in a Japanese conversation sounds good until you do it everyday and feel like you're drowning in a sea of words you don't know, or go to the post office to get a package and find that you lack the skills to communicate even this simple thing to them effectively. Anyway! Study abroad first, and see what it's like. If it's all sunshine and roses, live there! If not, you can at least find out what to work on before you move there.

I completely understand how you feel. But life changes and what you want now might not be what you want in two years (*hint an アイする人 could convince you to stay)But I think if that's really what you wanted to do with your live I would support you %100. I think a study abroad will be harshly realistic, and is a good opportunity to just taste what a life in a foreign country would be like. If it works out great, but you also cannot expect it to be problem free- nothing is liek that. I can't wait till we get to live there! ^_^

Your comment system is almost impossible to figure out you know that >_<
ANyway, totally know what you mean. Same thing happened to me last year after I got home from Japan. I kept looking around and having the overwhelming feeling that I didn't belong here in America.
Now I'm super excited to be going back soon (hopefully)
I don't know if I plan on spending the rest of my life there, but I know I'll be there for quite awhile.
So, there's hope for you and everything and yes and RIGHT!!!! you'll be living in Japan before you know it!
