Jeff woke up the next day, feeling awfully drained, his neck felt numb for sleeping on a chair and his feet cramped. Taking a deep breath, he decided to enter David's room. To his relief, David had already woken up, somehow surprised to see Jeff that early in the morning.

"Morning," Jeff greeted, smiling warmly, forgetting the pain on his body.

"Morning…" David replied weakly.

"How's your headache?" Jeff asked sounding concerned, taking a seat beside David.

"Better…" David informed, realizing that his head felt very light, it must had been the drugs' effect.

"Great then," Jeff said with a sympathetic smile.

"Jeff… who brought me here?" David's random contemplation had brought up the question.

Jeff looked at him intensely, taking some times before answering on David's question.

"I did, I was visiting a friend of mine down your block, so I decided to come to your apartment as well…" Jeff clarified, somehow not telling David all the truth. Actually, he didn't visit any friend yesterday. He had had a nightmare about David the other night, so he decided to check out on him, his worry was proved when he found out that David's apartment was unlock. Looking inside the apartment, Jeff found David lying helplessly unconscious on the bathroom floor.

"Thank you…" David stated, expressing his gratitude.

"It's nothing, I was just happened to be in the place, anyone would do the same way as I did," Jeff said, nodding his head slightly.

"Jeff… I thanked you for that…" David insisted, giving Jeff a reassuring smile. Jeff found himself blushing, it seemed that David could read what was going on in his mind.

Another heavy silence fell between them.

"You know, I never notice that your baldhead could reflect sunshine," David joked, melting the situation between the two of them.

Jeff smiled brightly hearing David's joke. He was glad that David had found his sense of humor back. The chitchat continued for another hour, before Sebastien and Chuck came to visit David.

People had visited David that day, but to David's disappointment, Pierre was not one of them. He tried not to think about Pierre, but failing shamelessly. He knew that he shouldn't be feeling like this. Pierre was not his boyfriend, and he didn't have any right to hope that Pierre would look after him. He was the one who decided to end things up with Pierre. He was the one who left Pierre in the first place. So, there was no one else to blame other than himself.

Little David knew that Jeff also noticed about Pierre's absence. He decided to come into Pierre's apartment in order to find him. Things were left unsaid between Pierre and him yesterday, so he wanted to talk things through with him. He knew that what had been going on between Pierre and David was not his business, and he had no right whatsoever to intervene. All Jeff wanted was for Pierre to put things aside, helping David to go through his sickness and not letting his selfishness ahead.

To Jeff's annoyance, Pierre was not in his apartment. He tried to reach Pierre's mobile with no luck, as Mail-voice was the one who answered it. He went to other places of which he thought that Pierre would attend, but still no luck. As the day turned into night, he still couldn't find Pierre anywhere. Feeling defeated, he went back to the hospital, explaining yesterday's incident between Pierre and him to David, in hope that David would understand.

"It's not your fault, Jeff…" David spoke after Jeff ended his explanation, looking at him with a faint smile. Jeff had been so kind to him that he wouldn't even dare to think that it was Jeff's fault.

"I'm glad that you'd understand, Dave," Jeff said, sounding released.

"I'm glad to have a friend like you…" David talked sincerely, reaching out for Jeff's hand, holding it for awhile as Jeff's face blushed.

A moment later, a doctor came into the room, looking somehow contented.

"Mr. Desrosier, I have a good news for you," the doctor said with a smile plastered on his face, unable to hide his excitement. David stared at him with a hopeful look as faith arose in his heart. Right then, he would take any good news that left for him.

---

It had been a long, exhausting week in Pierre's life. Things came and went in a very unexpected way, messing up on every aspect of his life. He had no idea that everything would turn out like this. Wondering why fate had turned against him, Pierre wore himself out. Looking back in retrospect, it wouldn't be a catastrophe if Pierre didn't take the chance to be with David. Life would be as plain as a white sheet. Boring, of course, but at least he didn't stuck in this entrapment of life. Pierre now understood why David said that he didn't want any drama in his life.

He knew that something was going wrong that day when David fell on the bathroom floor. Apparently, David's falling in the bathroom had caused more than a severe concussion. The crash had also caused a lump of blood in his head. The doctor said that it was already covering some area of David's brain. If only Pierre had taken David to the doctor immediately, maybe the doctor would take some preventive action and procurement about it. But now, it was too late. David was predicted to live for few months before his heart unable to send blood to his head.

A side of him kept telling that he should be with David, being there for the rest of only-God-knows-how-short-of-a-time of David's life would last. Making the time of their lives, cherishing each and every moment that would come along the way, and feeling utterly blessed for being involved in their genuine love.

But another side of him couldn't face it. He knew he wouldn't be able to see David faded away slowly but surely. He just couldn't afford to have a lost in his life, especially the one he loved the most. One would say that love was all about caring someone until the day they passed away, but to hear the sentence that the doctor said on David made him rethought again. Hearing that David would only have few months left had made him to take several steps back. 'Coward' was the perfect word that described him right now. He was afraid to face the dreadful fact.

So there Pierre was, in his mother's house, thousand miles away from David, running away from the dilemma behind him. He needed some times alone, away from David, away from his problem.

"Pierre, dinner is ready…" Nancy's voice interrupted Pierre's train of thought.

"I'll be there in a minute, Mom…" Pierre answered, reluctantly. Moving his body outside his room, Pierre joined his mother for dinner.

Dinner went by unbelievably quiet, Nancy noticed that there was something wrong with his youngest son, as he arrived two days ago out of nowhere, but she knew not to bring things up just yet. She knew her son would talk to her in time.

"So, how's life?" Nancy asked Pierre when he helped her washing the dishes in the kitchen.

"Fine," Pierre answered briefly, eyes looking at the plate on his hand.

The situation had turned into another silence. Nancy was still waiting for Pierre to speak up and a moment later, Pierre did open up.

"Mom… when the doctor told you that Dad was suffered for cancer, how did you manage to go through with it?" Pierre asked, sounding weary.

"I don't know, sweety… I guess love had led me through it," Nancy answered, feeling concerned on why Pierre asked that kind of question, "Is there something wrong?"

At that moment, Pierre told Nancy of what had been going on in his life, complete from A to Z. He knew that his mom would understand, and perhaps she would come up with an answer.

"Pierre, when your father passed away, there was no feeling of lost, in contrary, I felt so relief, knowing that I had done the best that I could, being there for him for the rest of his life… and you know what, sweety? I know that he would be waiting for me in heaven…" Nancy spoke out thoroughly, in hope that Pierre would understand about how great love could be.

Pierre stunned in silence, listening to his mother's words carefully, thinking over the consequences.

"Just do what's right for you… I believe that you could decide what best for you… I believe in you…" Nancy's words reminded him to David. David had said those words before when he was devastated about Wave. David had always believe in him, so why he didn't believe in David now?
