Oh dear... It seems as though I have missed a few days of work? I never even signed up for a job! I don't even know what this... 'waiter' job is. Do you weigh things? Is that what I'm to do? It seems silly to do that at an eating establishment of all things.

*Yes, everyone, the poor ex-templar is rather confused.*This world gets stranger and ( Read more... )

You're basically a sort of maid, but for a bunch of people coming to get food.

A...A maid? Why would I be given such a degrading job!? Don't tell me I have to wear a dress.

[Here, have an awkward, cheerful derp who wants try to help clear the confusion.]

T-That happened to me as well; just got a call earlier saying they would fire me if I didn't turn up tomorrow for work. It seems like everyone is just given a job when they get here. And, uh, a waiter takes food orders from customers and gives them to the chef, and then serves the food to the customers when it's ready...That's what the old books said anyway...

And I can understand the feeling...everything is so different from home...[Read 'different' as 'really bloody ancient'.]

Everyone gets a job hmm? That's understandable. We have to get food on the table somehow. But that doesn't seem too bad.

Old... book? Where exactly are you from?

A-Ah, it's kinda complicated since we aren't from the same place since there is no place called, um, Fereldan where I'm from. But where I'm from it's very far into the future where we don't really use books anymore. [Because all the libraries where blown up, along with everything else.]

No one uses books? But that's where history, facts, and many other things come from! How can you just... not use them?!

I'm a waitress as well.

It's fairly simple. You ask the people in the restaurant what they want to eat, then you tell that to the cook. When the cook has the food ready, you bring it back to the people.

Aren't you ever afraid that you might... drop the food?

The food's not heavy, and I happen to have an excellent sense of balance.

If you can carry things, you can be a waiter.

I can carry things just fine! Used to do it all the time back home. *Meaning carrying around supplies and possibly dead animals to eat over a fire place... same thing right? Right.*

Perhaps you just wait...

pickedontemplar July 31 2010, 17:39:25 UTC
But waiting is boring! They can't expect me to sit there all day!

oh_deer_me July 31 2010, 17:40:38 UTC
Well, it's a job!

But nobody said waiting couldn't be any fun.

True. It is a job. If I must put my sanity on the line, to support this family, I guess I will have to.

You get used to it, after a while. Things just stop being strange.

I hope so. This is all starting to give me headaches.

No! I have had my share of a job at home-- No I lived my job back at home. I just have no idea what a waiter is!
