The 5th (!) Annual 'A Picture is Worth a 1000 Words' Challenge!
So, It's Like This...
The challenge, for those who don't know, goes as follows:
Each participant is assigned a photograph. That photograph will be the inspiration for their story. (How you define "inspiration" is up to you.) Each story must be exactly one thousand words in length, no more, no less - it's not as easy as it sounds!
Everyone gets one photograph for one story. It's called a challenge for a reason, so you may need to get creative, but remember: the photograph itself need only serve as inspiration, not necessarily be part of the story. If the muse strikes, you may write more than one story based on your photograph, but each must be a completely separate story of one thousand words; your entry/entries can be part of series only if each story can stand on its own. [eta] You can also request additional photos, but again, each photograph should equal one free-standing story of exactly 1000 words.
Any fandom, pairing, rating or genre (including real person and original) is welcome!
Stories won't be due until February 28, 2007.
The Twist
Every year, I try to add a little variety to the challenge. This year, the theme is Elemental; all photographs will be based on one of the five elements of Chinese philosophy: earth, water, fire, wood or steel.

Comment here no later than Friday, December 29, 2006 (or whenever I wake up the next morning). I will post picture assignments here around January 1, 2007, so check back then, and after that, it's up to you!
