OMG YOU ARE SUCH A LIFE SAVER!

Well...at least saved my laptops life coz I was about to murder it with fire (I've been having other issues with VLC trying to get it to cap so came back to latest version, and I damn near love you for having this).

Oh thank you thank you THANK you so much for this! <3 I'd been searching forever for a good automatic capping tutorial but all I'd found were manual caps or outdated VLC programs or overly COMPLICATED programs. Ugh this is so simple and nicely done. Thank you so much for this! <3

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! You have saved my sanity. Tried umpteen tutorials and options for this including typing the commands into terminal (which worked ish..) But this worked perfectly. Thanks for sharing the knowledge.
