Big Fat Rant

I'm fat. I'm a nerd and gamer. I teach special education. I'm also a very leftist, bleeding heart pinko liberal borderline communist. So I'm big on acceptance and people speaking up for the underdog.

Discrimination = bad.

I was reading a pretty neat blog, Feminist Gamers, that I've seen before and check out from time to time. There was a recent ( Read more... )

Actually carrying extra weight is unhealthy. I understand that no one should be mean to people but to promote denial of health risks is irrisponsible.

That doesn't mean everyone should be a size two either. If you eat 50% veggies and fruits... you will probably be ok. That means whenever you eat, half needs to be veggies. If you have to make room for all those veggies, you have less room for junk. You don't have to suffer too much, just moderate. Oh, and keep a food journal. I've done it and it does keep me in mind of how much dessert I really do eat during the day. Eat veggies first before the other stuff. You'll find there isn't that much room. Also, don't have bad food in the house. And don't eat while you watch tv. It's helping me moderate although I really have to crack down on myself since I seem to be getting bigger not smaller.

Don't give up on the running. I've often had to start over on the routine.

Oh, I agree completely.

But the site I mentioned claims there's lots of possible evidence to suggest otherwise, that most of the correlation between being heavy and health issues is coincidental, blahblahblah. Whatever, I don't buy it.

What pissed me off is how the bigfatblog is so anti-dieting and unsupportive of people who want to lose any weight.

I don't like to think in terms of dieting. It sort of has a bad connotation. There is this strange thing that happens when people go to France... now France has wonderful food full of butter and cream... so tasty. People couldn't figure out how you could eat the food and not gain any weight. French women are usually a size 4 and it's a small 4 ( ... )
