Big Fat Rant

I'm fat. I'm a nerd and gamer. I teach special education. I'm also a very leftist, bleeding heart pinko liberal borderline communist. So I'm big on acceptance and people speaking up for the underdog.

Discrimination = bad.

I was reading a pretty neat blog, Feminist Gamers, that I've seen before and check out from time to time. There was a recent ( Read more... )

I don't like to think in terms of dieting. It sort of has a bad connotation. There is this strange thing that happens when people go to France... now France has wonderful food full of butter and cream... so tasty. People couldn't figure out how you could eat the food and not gain any weight. French women are usually a size 4 and it's a small 4.

This is the thing. People in France walk everywhere. Also portions are half what they are here. I've heard of people losing weight just by eating half. I would agree that that would do it definitely. And slow down - French people eat much slower. You'd surprised how little food actually fills you up but usually you're eating too fast that you eat quite a bit more past the full point because you just didn't wait for the message to get sent to your brain. And drink a lot of water because drinking calories is bad. I would much rather have a piece of cheesecake than a glass of juice and the juice almost has the same calories as a small piece of cake.

Nothing in there says you have to stop eating the food you like. Just eat half... more water and veggies... and eat slower and walk. Doesn't sound too bad and it's not a diet but rather just changing the way you eat. I am not giving up dessert but now I am eating a lot less of it since I am following the half rule.
