When I was a kid I learnt to read using Ladybird books 1 - 5, and then reading lots of the stories etc.  There are some great history ones, and I still love reading about history.  Anyway ... here is 5A & 5B  (And, yes, the child in the icon is me!)

The earliest classroom readers I remember (early 1960s) were "Dick and Jane" books.

LOL, I'm sure every one of us has SOME place in the house covered with stuff.

Ladybird books were very popular over here ... especially as they are hardback, and were quite cheep, as well.

Oh yes, stuff accumulates without you meaning to do it!

Great choices! TBH coffee or other tables not covered with things by people actually living there are suspicious - or, to put it differently, those designer houses where nothing lies about can't really be lived in, can they now? ;op
