Lol, technically the canon for Khan is that he was a genetic superbeing who was a major player in the 1990s Eugenics Wars. Which isn't all that much better than the 1960s XD

Yes, but I suppose back then the 90s was Teh Future. So it's not too big a stretch. Why not make Khan 200 instead?

Maybe I'm just thinking too hard. I should just switch my brain off and enjoy the movie xD

I have to say though. The security at the place Scotty sneaked into was as bad as Camelot's! xD

Reading the reviews, seems like more people have concerns about sexism instead. (They kinda censored the changing scene and the in bed with girls scene over here so I didn't get to see it - I think it's better this way! S'not like it added anything to the plot at all.)

There were definitely issues with plotholes and some icky gender stuff, but for me the feels and the visuals made up for it. (But yeah wtf with the Enterprise under the sea o.O I wondered if it was intentional, the way the Enterprise rising from the water kinda echoed the later visual when she rises up through the clouds. Either way, a slightly silly, very glorious shot. And tbh, I like my sci-fi silly.)

But yeah, I am super excited for all the fic too. If there aren't a ton of everyone-on-this-damn-crew-is-in-great-big-happy-poly-love fic, then I will be forced to conclude I watched a different movie from everyone else. Basically just want cuddlepiles. Always ;)

Yeah, I like scifis to be silly too - I really got a kick out of the scene where the indigenous alien species drew an outline of the ship on the ground and things like that. It's just there's a bit too many things that distracts me from fully enjoying the story.

BUT YUS FICS. ALL THE FICS. ALL THE PAIRINGS. ALL THE ORGIES. NAO.

Dang, this franchise lost me at the first mention of whitewashing. I refuse to watch Ocean's Eleven and The Last Airbender for the same reason. When cultural diversity is evident in source material then it should carry over into any adaptation, dammit!

I think the Last Airbender has it worst. He basically whitewash everyone sigh.

I totally agree with you!

Same. A pretty movie, unlovingly made. Chris was great, though.

I think they were all good - it's just the material, yeah. Still, I'm sure it'll make a lot of money.

How are you?
