It's horribly illegal, unethical, and all kinds of wrong, but when you get around to downloading those MP3s, will you share?

I remember the Tassajara book! Wow, I haven't heard that name in ... forever, it seems like. Those guys and The Moosewood Cookbook ... hee, they were THE books to have at one time.

Saw this book while catching up on some NY Times Book Reviews and thought of you -- Cold: Adventures in the World's Frozen Places.

i have both of the original tassajara books (the regular one and the bread one) and a lot of the moosewood ones (and have eaten at the actual moosewood restaurant and it is well worth it.)

good plan. make as many notes as you can. it's the sort of thing that seems really obvious but it's hard to put into practice, you know?
(i did a stupid thing and ran over the power adapter for my mininotebook with my wheelchair and i had to order a new one? so i'm getting it sent to your place and hopefully it should arrive while i'm there. i hope that's okay. <3<3)

re: technique cooking books, French Cooking in 10 Minutes is very focused on technique. It does leave out slow-cooking methods ;)

(I should note that it was written in 1930, so his assumption that you must have a gas stove for quick cooking is no longer true - electric stoves work fine - but overall the book holds up very well.)
