Things like this remind me of why I _hate_ bureaucracies so much: behaving politely and rationally with them gets you nowhere. I'm glad they finally seem to be accommodating you _somehow_, seeing as this is apparently their job. (But gods forbid any bureaucracy should do the job it was designed to do...)
