the harvard ave collective brings fresh produce to the shores. I've gone past those tons of times and have wondered about them (they're about two blocks from my apartment building). Oh, the street pianos story is wonderful! My son used to play every piano he came across, and once got in trouble for doing so on the grand piano in the lobby of the Shakespeare Festival theatre. When an official person scolded him and locked the piano, he said, "You left it open. It needs to be played." :)

Wouldn't a general decrease in consumption of cows have the same results? Am I being too sensible again?

That piano link is wonderful - the world can always use a bit of impromptu fantasy.

The cow thing just makes me sad. Aside from consumption factors mentioned above - why go through all the effort of breeding when you could just feed them better? And I read an article on the new diets, and the cows are overall just much healthier - fewer vet visits, healthier coats, etc. And that means that conventionally-fed cows are fed crap diets, and the breeding is basically a way to continue mistreating the cows while reducing emissions.
