fucking thank you that was amazing. i haven't seen the thing you're talking about on the homepage but i totally agree. even characters from really famous things are based on real people (off the top of my head genesis from final fantasy 7 was inspired by gackt) so people who are like "writing about real people or other peoples characters is just to boost their stories popularity" someone i know actually said that people only write, for example, gazette fanfics because people who like the gazette will read it so its just about popularity. he made it sound so dirty to like all fanfic writers do is use people to increase the number of people who read their stuff. i would have punched him in the face if we weren't talked through the interwebs. gah. i just needed to get that of my chest too. (btw your writing is fan-fucking-tastic. i love you)

That person is probably pulling your leg imo. I think if you wanted to write something that would make you popular online, you would write Harry Potter fiction. Gazette is barely known compared to the Harry Potter series. They probably just want to hide the fact that they really enjoy it XDDD

I started writing because my beta (who is my sister btw) asked me to write one for her. Ever since we were little, I would tell her stories and make up characters or even use real people, and tell stories using them. I was shocked when I realized that 4 people read it the first time! I was like O_O

It's awesome hearing from my readers but I wouldn't write unless I liked to do it.

Thank you~~

no he was serious. he's a writer kinda so he's all blaaaahh about those things. its also possible that he was just annoyed that i (we were dating once upon a time) enjoyed reading yaoi fanfiction over his stories, which are good, but not really my cup of tea. but it seriously made me wanna punch him cuz he was being a dick and talking like all of you guys who write these things were just jerks who wanted people to read their stories and be popular. which is bullshit

*rolls eyes* he sounds like a snob. What sort of stories did he write?

My point exactly is everything you've written. I started writing when I must have been eleven or something, and I had never really considered it for a career until I got to high school. I just wrote because it was fun, and now I use it as a way to cope with a lot of things in my life. Other people do drugs, I write. That's my way of escaping reality, where I can create a fantasy where I'm completely in control of everything. That's how I keep myself sane ( ... )

Yeah, most of what I've written I've never really shown most people. Writing too for me is the most enjoyable thing even more so than acting. I am also an actress by the way, and I use what I've learned from writing to help with performance and script interpretation and I use what I've learned from acting with my writing. BUT THAT'S ANOTHER THING XDD *tries not to run off on a tangent*

But I agree with all the things you brought up as well. Writing can be a very therapeutic thing regardless of what it's about.

I don't think people should ever do something if they themselves don't enjoy it. Of course, I know that some people have responsibilities but when it comes to doing something like this, there has to be a level of enjoyment, fun or release or something achieved from it.

It was rather amusing when I read what the author's had to say about fanfiction as well. I mean, I don't read a lot of what I'd consider 'mainstream books' i.e: books that get a lot of attention and are usually made into movies so it was... hard to kinda respect their opinions, however rude that sounds when I a) had never heard of them or b) have never read their books or c) didn't enjoy their books ( ... )

Totally agree with you and I'm glad you wrote about it. Many acclaimed literary works are based on the 'classics'. Pre-existing characters of established writers have been reused by others...'rosencrantz and guildenstern are dead' , 'wild sargasso sea' etc etc ( ... )

Thank you for bringing up the thing about "oneness." It's certainly is the thing that knits together all fanfiction communities. Gazette of course means a lot to me and I know that my readers-and the writers of other fictions feel the same about the band. And I can say that it's actually one of the few places in the Gazette fandom or in any VK fandom where people are truly nice to one another and are respectful. I am new generally speaking but I haven't come across any nasty comments or people being rude. It's something that we can share with one another and have fun with and I think for those moments of being pulled into a story, those moments when we are feeling the residual love effects of a romantic kiss and we are happy are worth what we are doing ( ... )
