This might be a silly question, but here goes. I am scouting around to see what sort of apartments/prices are out there because my boyfriend and I are moving in together when my lease is up (not for a while but I am a planner-ahead). I'm leaning towards West Philly but am open to other ideas, he isn't so much neighborhood dependent as he has ( Read more... )

where in the fuq is the "loft district?"

The places that use that as a description seem to be around Vine Street, anywhere from Broad down to 4th.

And most of the buildings are converted factories of some sort or another. Hence "lofts."

The "loft district" tends to be the northern part of Old City.

Umm, as far as no problem parking, I don't think this fits the bill... I would imagine West Philly would be better for that. Also, compared to West Philly its not affordable. Compared to Rittenhouse, yes, but apart from that it's right in line or slightly above the other areas of Center City.

that's like ... north chinatown (the loft district) -- apart from empty (or converted) warehouses there's not much there in the way of supermarkets, or movie theatres or parking. i haven't lived there, but west philly seems a lot more walkable. (and parkable)

parking is fairly easy, but i always feel it gets shady at night.
