This might be a silly question, but here goes. I am scouting around to see what sort of apartments/prices are out there because my boyfriend and I are moving in together when my lease is up (not for a while but I am a planner-ahead). I'm leaning towards West Philly but am open to other ideas, he isn't so much neighborhood dependent as he has specific criteria about what he wants in a place. I've only ever lived in various parts of West Philadelphia and I like that it kind of has a neighborhood feel and I can easily walk places.

Has anyone had experience living in the "loft district"? Opinions on it?

He keeps finding places in this loft district area because they have things we both want (washer/dryer, slightly affordable) and things he wants (huge windows, open floor plan, no problem parking). I'm a little wary of this especially because if I can find a job when I graduate I'll probably be working late fairly often, and I want someplace I can feel safe walking home by myself at night. I like W. Philly because there's usually a ton of people around no matter where you are. Also a little iffy because it seems like some of these places are totally in the middle of nowhere, and I will again be using SEPTA to get to and from work. Errands and stuff aren't really an issue because he's got a car, but I do like being able to walk to a pharmacy or cafe or something if I want to.

Anyway, I guess I'm just asking if anyone's lived around there, and what your thoughts were. Thanks in advance!

where to live
