Article for SCOR, Opus 4 Nº 1

Not quite so old as the last post; again under the cut. I would have submitted it to Erato, if there were any hope of it being published again in the near future: so instead, here it is. Contact your local AICSA choir to look at the full ROCS newsletter (“What's the SCOR?”), which should have been mailed to your society's address sometime recently ( Read more... )

Hi,

Thanks for this. It was interesting reading, and a good article. You might want to CC it to aicsachat?

"Crescent Moon" has since been picked up and was performed by Cantores Choir in Dunedin this year, and once again, the feedback was really favourable. I have also recently received a request from the US to workshop the piece. I haven't heard back yet about this, although I approved the request.

It was a great idea for ROCS to do the Young Composers concert. I only wish that other AICSA choirs were willing to support Australia's young composers in like manner! Maybe they're just not ready for the challenge! ;-)

Sarah Chan and I are currently engaged in congratulating one another, for being, well, excellent, you know? I do think she did a superb job with “Young Melbourne Composers” (2004 installment), and it’s about the one thing I neglected to mention in the article: which of course, is more about the 2007 sequel.

I’m so glad that your pieces are getting picked up and performed, both “Crescent Moon” and “the Wheel“. I imagine you’ve probably got several performances of each now, and possibly recordings as well?

No one picked up on the comment about “the absence of an Erato”. So far I’m disappointed that my original article merits only a single aicsachat comment from someone who was already strongly associated with ROCS and thus known to have had a commitment to performing new stuff, whereas the usual meme rubbish can generate twenty comments in an hour... in other words, continuing silence from the other dozen or so AICSA ( ... )

Hello! I have the pleasure of telling you that your little bird is wrongo, and will be exterminated! The Saint-Saëns score is currently with the ROCS librarian, and has been since Sunday the 14th. Let me know if you need a hand chasing them up, or if you would like some random exterminations or morris dancing for your entertainment.

Best regards, Dalek Sec look-alike
