This one's a little older, but I think it's a nice creepy flick; 'The Changeling.' It's a George C. Scott movie about a widower who moves into an old house. I haven't looked at music boxes the same way since.

The Sixth Sense. I don't know if it counts as horror, but it scared the hell out of me.

The Blair Witch Project (owing mostly to the unusual circumstances I saw it under). If I saw it when it came out...I don't think I would have been
scared at all.

The Hellraiser series (Clive Barker)

The Stepford Wives (the original - not the remake)

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (I actually liked the new one because it has better special effects but the old one is also good). Still - it's in the vein of standard grade-B horror (which means predictable and hence not scary - just lots of gore.

Village of the Damned

They Live - Rowdy Roy Piper saves the planet. It's actually scarier than
it sounds.

The Thing (eeeek....really scary)

Actually anything John Carpenter/George Romero have directed would be good bets for scary.

*L* Blair Witch? Mind if I ask the circumstances? Personally, I found that one boring.

Oh yes! I agree! The original Stepford Wives is awesome! I saw that as a freshmen in college. MUCH creepier than the weird new version.

Sixth Sense *hee* Own that one. I LOVE M. Night Shylayman. Signs is also really good by him.

Haven't seen the others, though, I might have to check some of them out! Esp. "The Thing" I know that one's a classic.

My friend Maija was doing some kind of temp clerical thing at agency for Michael Ovitz (he was guy at Disney who quit after a year because he couldn't get along with Eisner) and she saw video tape lying on someones desk so she swiped it ( ... )

Oh god that's right! I half think you mentioned that to me before.

Yes, yes, that would make the movie MUCH creepier, I have to admit!

If you're looking for older horror that you might have missed, try these ( ... )

Okay, wow! I've not seen a single one of those. I'll definitely be taking your list under advisement ;^)

Hope you enjoy 'em.

As for newer horror films, Cabin Fever was surprisingly good, and although I'd classify it as a suspense thriller, not a horror film, you'll get more than a few shivers down your spine from Joy Ride. And anything John Carpenter puts out is worth a rental (The Thing being his best, which I believe you said you'd seen)

*whispers* Actually, I can't say I liked cabin fever that much...

I've heard John Carpenter's great. No, I haven't seen the Thing, but I'd like to!

Yeah, I'll have to second The Grudge.

Saw is another good one, although it's more of a psychological thriller. (Read: Disturbing.)

Oh Lord! I forgot about Saw.

Other than the fact I'd liked to have scooped Danny Glover's character out of there entirely, that was an awesome movie.

Grossest and goriest I've ever seen though.

But damn good.
