In a base somewhere in another world, there sat a girl eating ramen listening to the voice of her higher boss over the PA system. She held her chopsticks and leaned back as she looked up, away from the glow of her computer screen. Oh great, she thought to herself with a sigh as she shoveled more ramen into her mouth. It was as if the universe was telling her to flat out rebel, again. Thinking silently that she could use some more food she rubbed her stomach idolly and set the bowl aside
( ... )
Bones felt more than saw the girl materialize in his clinic, since he was calibrating a makeshift tricorder at that moment. He looked up quickly, surprised by her sudden entrance but not completely nonplussed; people appeared and reappeared a lot around here.
"Now now, young lady," he said in his easiest voice, sensing that it would be putting it mildly to say she was startled. "No need for profanity here. You're in a clinic, on a deep space habitat. Are you all right?" he asked, edging forward the slightest bit but slowly. He didn't want to alarm her.
Now now? She felt like she was going to hyper ventilate at that moment, her eyes shifted to the man that said she was in a clinic and she wondered if somehow she'd gone mad along the way. She reflect on the old code she'd used when she was younger with her cousin, the white knights and the red knights, the rabbit hole. Had she not come back? After a moment of breathing she met the man's gaze easily, though she looked shaken as was completely understandable.
"I was not in a clinic," she repeated slowly as if to check her own sanity in the situation. No she was no in a clinic before, she had been at her computer. She was listening... "Am I dead?"
He smiled at the question, tapping the tricorder, careful to keep it low so it wasn't threatening. It beeped in a reassuring manner. "No, you are very much alive," he replied. "I'm Doctor Bones McCoy. Where were you before you showed up here?" he asked.
Angel had to think about that, his words and her eyes settled on the tricorder. She'd never seen the like of that before, at least she couldn't remember something like that. She'd never really been to into doctors or hospitals. She'd raged if anyone had tried to steer her into one but at that moment she hard his name and she let out a breath. "Angelina... I was.. at my computer listening to Treize.." she trailed off her eyes on the tricorder, she'd always been very good with technology. But he said she was alive. "Where am I Doc?" she wanted to go back to bed and wake up from this nightmare. Badly. But seeing how she didn't recognize the tech in his hand she had an idea.
Alice was down the rabbit hole, and there was no way out of it.
"Pleased to meet you, Angelena," said Bones heartily. The name Treize sounded vaguely familiar, but he had met a lot of people in his day, and just because he had heard a name somewhere didn't mean he knew who she was talking about.
"You're on what my people call a Niven Ring," he replied. "It's a giant ring that circles a star, with the habitat on the inner surface. There's this computer that drags people here to populate it. It never asks us, either," he added with a grumble. "Just drags us off."
Vekk wanted to mess with you. So here he is.asura_heroDecember 4 2009, 03:32:27 UTC
Vekk had decided to stop by the clinic to see if a professional could give him a second opinion on the remnants of the severe burns he'd received before being so rudely brought back to the Ring a month ago. They looked mostly healed, and they didn't hurt anymore when left in the open air.
He'd long-since gotten used to the idea that no matter where he went, he was going to run into Humans as opposed to his fellow Asura.
Bones was clearing up after his last patient when he heard the door open. He turned to greet his newest visitor and had a very brief pause where he saw the person wasn't human. But he was quite used to aliens, so it was only an instant before he smiled.
"Greetings. Can I help you?" he asked, wondering if his tricorder had the capacity to give him an accurate scan. He certainly didn't recognize the species.
Well, it was certainly a nice change from the usual surprised look that he received upon first meeting a Human.
Vekk unwrapped his arm as he spoke. The skin was still an unnatural pink compared to the regular gray of his skin, but it had definitely looked worse. "I was hoping to find someone who could take a look at my arm. It seems as if it's healed, but I'm no healer. You are one, I presume? Or a..." He fumbled for the Human word, his native tongue not having a specific word for healers who didn't use magic. "...physician?"
With Trowa's help, he'd been able to apply first aid, so it had been treated. Just not at the level of precision that a doctor or healer could've done so.
"I am a physician," he said. "Doctor McCoy is the name. Let me see this here." he knelt right down beside the short alien and took gentle hold of his arm. "Hm. Looks like a burn. You have a bit of scarring. A field dressing, I presume?"
He could fix that, he would just have to be careful, not being familiar with this particular physiology.

Ashitaka wasn't entirely sure where he was going anymore, but he needed to move. He heeded to get away form people and apparently burrow back in the apartment to hide from whatever chaos this was. He was being a coward and his honor and pride died hard deaths as he turned and fled the rioting streets outside the complex.
Something was happening, something momentous and terrible came over everyone and suddenly there wasn't enough power in his body to fight off everyone attacking him. What had happened? What had caused it? Who knew. All he knew was that he had managed to get here... and he was trailing a red trail to himself everywhere he went. The people out for his life would be upon him soon with such an easy trail to follow...
He didn't know, as he managed to stumble into Bones' clinic, was that he sported large gashes and clawed swipes allover his body. His cheek was cut wide open and on his left arm's elbow, muscle could be seen. He held onto the wall, gasping for breath.
Bones was there, and he didn't have to look twice before he was running forward to grab the boy and haul him into the clinic. "I've got ya, Son," he said. "Easy there. Come with me. What happened to you, hm? This way." He guided him gently towards the nearest bed.
Ashitaka was dazed enough not to realize at first that he was being pulled by someone else. But the man's voice caught his attention.
"I ah... there was a riot...people were attacking... everything." he nearly collapsed onto the bed when he was drawn to it. "I tried to get away, but suddenly...everyone turned on me." he was weakened and he was rambling, thanks to the adrenaline and the Substance P in his system. His eyes were dilated and he was twitching slightly
"My name is Doctor Bones McCoy. I'm here to help you." He didn't need his tricorder to diagnose these injuries. He went right to work, dragging over a tray so he could start cleaning the young man's wounds. He paused to rest a hand on his shoulder. "It's all right. I'm going to help you. Take a deep breath." He almost looked like he was drugged. Bones moved his hand to his forehead. "Try to relax. You're safe here."
Monoko was shaking, waiting inside and watching Snake from a chair. She wondered if she'd be able to do something to make him not so mad anymore. Maybe try to figure out what he was doing with that thing. Dick had done something with it to make sure neither of them could get it, so it would be up to Snake to explain... if he would.
But, it seemed like, besides an unconscious Snake, she was all by herself again. The other man, "Or-ra-cul", said that someone else would be coming to care for the both of them. She decided to be on her best behavior, so nobody would get mad at her again. It would be hard, though. She didn't even know what she did to make Snake mad.
Snake would come to soon enough. There were beeping things all around, his head was aching, the lights were blinding. He groaned and reached for his forehead.
What happened? Where was he now? Last he remembered, he was trying to contact Otacon and then that little girl-- That little girl...
Oh shit.
It came back to him then. The uncontrollable and undeniable urge to destroy, his body no longer acting as his own. This power over him like...like he was a puppet. He looked around feverishly. Damn, damn damn, double damn. Where was she, was she alright??
He threw himself upright. "Monoko!" he sounded, not angry, but frightened and concerned for the girl who was... conveniently, right beside him.
She hadn't expected him to get up so suddenly. She stared at him, shaking, and the moment she heard a word coming out of his mouth, she literally threw herself at his feet, sobbing and apologizing over and over again. She couldn't do it for too long, and soon she was coughing, rubbing her throat and backing away, in case he was going to make her hurt again.
And that entire display made his stomach turn. He had done this to her... he had reduced her to this, after she had placed such faith in him. He could just curl up and die...kill himself for what he'd done. Once again, he wasn't the hero people thought he was. He was a loser.
"No... Monoko, it's my fault. That thing...hypnotized me." he knew it was a piss poor excuse but it was the truth. Slowly, he dug in his ear, pulling out the tiny microphone he used to talk to the Colonel or Otacon. "This thing..."
