Not long after Crane goes into hiding, there comes a sound from down the hallway. A scrape, a rustle. The first "trick-or-treater" of the night approaches, wandering in search of something good to eat. His ghoulishly painted face is covered from nose to chin in blood as well as the front of his jacket and shirt.

At the dish of free candy, he pauses, looks around, sniffs the air and then drools a dark, viscous substance. Candy, however, is the least of his interest. The faint scent of something much better has captured his attention and he quickly pursues it, brushing past the stool.
