Unseen Academicals by Terry PratchettThe title makes more sense when you realise that the book is about Football (not American football, but I couldn't tell you for sure which British football it's supposed to be based on). That would be the medieval version of football, which consisted of getting the ball from one end of the village to the other by any means short of decapitation (at least, deliberately). Not so much soccer as a never-ending rugby ruck or maul, with the ball somewhere in the middle of it, often involving anybody who didn't get out of the way quickly enough.

I thought there might be some rugby connection, but I didn't want to mention it. The details of non-soccer football are a mystery to me.

Sugarbean.

This was one of those books that I Liked Lots, which meant I got about one third in, stopped and reread it from the beginning, read another third, stopped and reread it from the beginning, and then finally allowed myself to finish it on the third day.

I am a speedreader. It is necessary to throw up huge hurdles if I want enjoyment of a book to last beyond one hour.

Apropos of nothing, I will never, ever watch the final episode of Battlestar Galactica. Because right now I'm in a place where it hasn't ended yet.

Carry on.

This was probably one of my favorite Discworld books ever, probably helped by the fact that I first heard it as an audio book, read by Stephen Briggs. I saw way too much of myself in Ms. Glenda Sugarbean, though.
