JD works just as well. Maybe a little *too* well...
Despite the memory loss, Dean is being very insightful:
“Fuck you. Just…fuck you Dad. You should have been there. He needed you. He needed his father. He needed a friend. And maybe he’s so fucked up because he did know better and didn’t think he had a choice.”John's right in a way - there are some lines you don't cross. Until you do. And once you have, you have to deal with the fallout - and so do those around you. John is gonna need to deal with the fallout here. How *he* deals is going to affect how Dean and Sam (Sam especially) deal. Because Dean's right - Sam needs his father. And a father's unconditional love. And I'm not sure if this John can provide that. ::frets ( ... )

Sorry....I couldn't resist.
Yes, how John handles this is going to greatly affect Sam, and in turn how Sam and Dean function from here.
There's more Sammy pre-Broken to come shortly. Though there will be no writing this weekend as I'll be working SF Pride all weekend.

I'm surprised that Dean didn't ask if his continued enslavement would have been a better choice than what Sam did for him, because John just really didn't seem to get it and that's what made me want to poke his eye out with a stick or something. I hope there's no serious altercation about this thing between Sam and John, because Dean's stronger now, but I'm not sure he could hold Sam and himself together of John said some of that shit to Sam's face and crushed his little heart even more than its already been crushed.

Thank you, my dear!
I just wanna smoosh this Dean and never let him go. Sam too.
I'm in on the wanting to smack John around just a little. Although, he's had great moments in this whole story, he's been away from the boys for a while now, and I think maybe he let himself forget how bad it really was.

Great to see Dean back in big brother mode trying to protect and make everything alright for Sam. Nice confrontation between Dean and John.
Looking forward to more.

More to come, that's for sure.

great update. and although Sam is trying to be the protective one at the beginning, Dean is the protective one in the end as he always was. trying to make his Dad understand what he did and why he did them and John not really getting the point...that just hurt. I hope John makes up his mind and meets his sons with the understanding they need from him. otherwise, I am afraid, he is doing more harm than good.
I am really happy you wrote more and I can't really wait to read more, doesn't matter if pre-verse or post-verse. and I really have to read the whole verse again.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yes, Dean is feeling a bit protective and Sam is a little bit fragile and John needs to get a clue!
