Christmas already...cuz it's already Christmas at work

So, I made a trip to Ruhamas the other day (which, BTW, they sell gift cards...for those of you who love me this holiday season!  ;-P ).  I'm in yarn-covet stage.  I want more yarn.  And notions.  I have never wanted notions so badly.  I found these $40 Colonial Rosewood needles.  You must knit with these!!  I asked what the big deal was, so the ( Read more... )

That is pretty impressing for a first attempt at fair isle! It's the closest to perfect I've seen in a while! *applauds*

*bows* thank you, thank you.

You should see the inside though. I should have "intarsia-ed" the name, but I didn't...and now it's messy on the inside.

I'm not looking forward to weaving the ends in.

That's why my mother will knit almost anything, but only if we do the weaving in ourselves. I've begun to "knit in" the ends as I go, it's not that hard, and saves tons of work. (It's a mess if you need to frog though.)

You've inspired me for next year...I may just get super motivated and knit the family stockings (I'll have to start in January). It looks amazing! I've never done real fair Isle, is it difficult?

It's not as big of a deal as I thought it would be. The trick is to keep the travelling yarns slack enough to keep it from puckering when all's said and done. And I think it's probably easier since it's being knit in the round.

are you going to line it with something to prevent snags?

Did I mention I got those tickets...Mark your calendar. Jan 26th we have a date...I should probably double check that date.

I think I'll figure that out after I block it. I might just tack the really long strands, but I think the rest might work themselves out.

Your knitting always looks so professional.

Did you ever finish that purple vest, btw? I'm curious to see pictures of that.

I definitely plan on lots of evenings with kitties, hot cocoa, a holiday movie, Adam, and warm snuggly blankets. Thankfully because we're seeing my dad for Thanksgiving, he doesn't really care about doing Christmas on or around the actual holiday. I'm hoping for a less stressful than normal year.

I am *almost* done. I have to still seam up that one side. Probably tomorrow. I'm hoping to wear it for the holidays....although I'll probably end up wearing my Bou Ride the Yuletide shirt...

We, (and by "we" I mean "I"), put up the Christmas tree and stockings today.....I know it is quite a bit early, but with all of my homework I figured 1) I needed a break and 2) it may never get put up if things keep going at the rate they are, so....Jim tried to help for all of about two ornaments until he dropped the German pickle ornament that had yet to see its first Christmas in our home and it shattered on our wood floor. :(

You could come here for Christmas and avoid family all together....thought that'd still be a lot of driving! :) I'd imagine that is an impossibility with church responsibilities for you two as much as it is for us an impossibility to get away during the holidays!

Hopefully you'll make it down for Girl's Night on the 8th....I'm getting Jim to do some of his truffles and chocolate-covered peanutbutter balls before then....mmm! :)
