Hmm...

So, I've been out in Central London for a while now and have to say that whilst I'm ecstatic about #44, whilst I'm pretty happy with what currently looks like 57 (in practice) Dems in the Senate with outside possibilities for more, whilst I'm glad about the pretty decent numbers from the House, not to mention various other results, I shan't be ( Read more... )

What are people saying? I LOVE being able to talk to people from all over the world and find out what they think about stuff. It's enlightening.

Am very braindead today but all a-squee!

Well, whilst I was out in town yesterday, things were superficially fairly quiet. But if you paid a bit of attention, the sections of the newspapers most people seemed to be actively reading were those on the election, a fair number of the conversations I briefly overheard were about it (and seemingly positive.) I even ended up in a couple of conversations with random people about the result, and they all seemed generally relieved/happy.

Know what you mean about the braindead bit!

I just can't be as happy as I want to about Obama winning.

I wasn't able to cry tears of joy because America decided to vote change. Instead I'm crying tears of bitterness and anger because my home state chose to vote for hate and discrimination instead of equality and civil rights. I am crying because the majority of people in my home state would have rights that were already legally given to an entire group of people taken away, and because they are usng God, hatred, and bigotry as a reason to do so. Who is next? What is next on their agenda?

How can people chose to go back so far on a day when America has chosen to go forward?

*Hugs* I know exactly what you mean, though the numbers look a little better now than I thought they did last night for pulling a victory out of this, but it'd still be pretty unlikely, from what I can tell. Urgh - whichever way it goes, there's a hell of a lot of work to be done on this issue. *Hugs again*
