What a world it is where we must warn for good taste.
I saw the whole the-Pandorica-is-for-the-Doctor thing coming
I didn't. The nearest I got was that it contained a future version of him and he was going to let himself out and blow up the universe that way. IDK.
Eleven has totally won me over.
Same. I've been a Who fan for a while, but there were times when RTD was writing where I just gave up and didn't watch because I couldn't stand it. I wouldn't dream of missing Moffat's Who.
Ach well, I want to give RTD fans the choice not to read. I get irrationally upset when people insult shows/ships/writers I like.
I think I read something somewhere pointing out that the 'goblin' sounded a lot like the Doctor, otherwise I really doubt I would have guessed. And I wasn't sure how it was going to pan out, I thought it might be a past version of him instead, or something more abstract representing him.
I was really worried about Matt Smith when we first saw him in the Christmas episode, but I've totally fallen for him. It was the same with Donna - I didn't like Catherine Tate's show and I hated her in the Christmas special, and I DREADED her becoming a regular companion, and then she did and she turned out to be my favourite ever. I mean, I love Amy, but Donna is still right at the top of the list for me.
I've also become a major Moffat fan. I used to watch for David Tennant, and just bit my lip at the poor writing and formulaic plots. There were a few that stood out, but enh. I appreciate that Moffat seems to be doing something different, and quite a bit lighter too, if that makes sense? No more "Woe am I, smarter than everybody and last of my kind, woe, woe..."
I also totally didn't see the "Pandorica is for the Doctor" thing coming, and I usually am one of those people that guess at endings. Derp derp, I'm blaming it on too much junk food and beer consumption. Fuck, though, that last minute just killed me.
The only reason I can imagine for the horse-riding sequence is that, well, it looked cool.
It's sort of lighter in tone but more complex in terms of themes, I think? For the most part anyway. Also, and I never thought this would happen, I think I'm starting to like Matt EVEN MORE than David! I know I'm way in the minority there though.
I also think the Moffat Dr who series has been better than many of the old RTD ones and that Matt Smith really does make a good Dr.Who. I must admit that i didn't quite suss out that the Pandorica was the doctor but wow wgat a climax to the penultimate episode. I look forward to Episode 13.
I'm really glad other people are liking this series too, I was braced for a lot of disagreement considering how popular Tennant was in the role. Can't wait for Saturday!
I'm pretty sure I got the idea about the Pandorica from somebody else's comment somewhere, I feel like I've overstated my prediction...
There's something about Moff's writing that makes me turn off my brain and NOT ask those questions. I just get swept away by the humor and emotion and the shout-i-ness and the pretty. With RTD I was more likely to do the picking apart while watching the episode.
While I'm not a RTD-hater, I'd say that there have been fewer episodes that bothered me in some major way in this Series than in any of Russel's.
