The rattle on the Jetta is the catalytic converter heat shield. Looks like it got hit by something and the weld holding the front of the heat shield on broke. The Jeeps usually don't take hits to the underside, at least not while on paved roads. And the hits they do take, usually large rocks, generally don't do any damage. The Jetta has a rattle. I think its probably a loose heat sheild, has that tin-ey sound. The door latch mechanism also controls the locks and the switch for interior lights, etc. The drivers door sometimes thinks its open. Kind of annoying but not major. The shocks/struts are showing their age, but I can wait until after the wedding to replace ( Read more... )

I finally got my mp3s loaded onto my work computer and winamp to work. So now instead of listening to the same 1400 songs on my creative mp3 player, I can listen to the same songs, plus about 600 more, on my computer. The Jetta is possessed by evil spirits. I need a virgin to sacrifice to appease Voltron, the God of automotive electronics... or I need to repair the door latch mechanism so the Jetta doesn't think the door is open and turns on the interior lights when I am driving. Anyone good at soldering?
