weird dream

Most of the dreams I have are not very realistic. This one wasn't weirder than most, it just included Scott. I was going to send him an email about it but decided to share it with everyone.

It started with me at a gate. The gate was in a large (30 ft high, 4 ft think) wall that surrounded a compound about the size of large city block. Inside a very large archway (about 25 ft high, 30 ft across) a large metal grate was installed. In the middle of the metal grate was a door, or gate a little bigger than a regular door. Outside the metal grate was decorated with garland and these Santa dolls (Christmas in June?). They were about 18 inches high, and their faces looked more like elves. There were about 20 of them placed on little shelves equally spaced in two rows across the metal grate. They had little motion sensors in them so that when you go close they said "ho ho ho" and some Christmas music played. A short guy there was proudly telling me that he had rigged them all with explosives. I guess they were expecting someone to try to attack the gate and wanted my advice on how to protect it. I wasn't to happy of the idea of motion sensor equipped exploding Santas, at least not as a form of defense, but couldn't think of anything better. These seemed more like something Justin E. would make for the 4th of July. I asked what kind of shrapnel he packed in the Santas and he said didn't think of that. I told him to get some small plastic bags, about the size of a palm pilot, and put about 25 small ball bearings (about the size of pachinco balls) in it, place that in front of the explosives and he would have an improvised claymore mine. He asked if BBs would be ok, and just a few in each Santa. I said no so he gives me 3 dollars and asks me to buy the bearings and points to the wal-mart inside the compound. I figured wal-mart has lots of crap so it would be a good place to find some shrapnel.

Now as I enter its not a wal-mart but a maze of dark hallways inside a very large building. As I am walking through I am bumping into other people. There are lots of other people, sometimes alone, sometimes in small groups, quickly walking past me, or coming around corners. All of these people are about my age. Of course the age I think of myself as is around mid-20's (I think I am mentally stuck at that age). Most people don't mind the bumping, but I am trying to avoid it and quietly say "sorry" to those that I do bump into. One person I bump into is a girl and when I say "sorry" she makes eye-contact and smiles... and gives me that look! Ut-oh! So I quickly keep walking.

I walked straight down one hallway until it turned to the right. Walked to the end of that one and it turned right again and was walking down the next one (so it was like I had walked in a big U). In this hallway, instead of lots of other hallways and doors, there were little shallow cubicles on the left side, and seating areas on the right. It was still quite dark and now there was some music (before it was just mechanical noises like AC and water pumps). It was like being in that area in Das Bunker where the computers are. As I walk past a cubicle someone gets up from their desk and points to a seat across the hall. Its the same girl from before. I sat down and leaned back to put my back against the backrest, but it wasn't there. This seating area was recessed into the wall. It was about 6 feet wide and went about 4 feet back. The sides and top (which was arched... lots of arches in this dream) was covered in a dark red vinyl with thick padding and buttons holding it in. I know there is a name for it, but can't remember. So I sit down and she pretty much throws herself on top of me and tries to kiss me. I fight her off and say I am sorry if I gave you the wrong impression but I have a fiance and quickly continue down the hallway.

It opens into a large room. On the wall to the right is a large tv. On a couch in center of the room is Scott, laying down and watching anime. I say hi and then point to the girl (who followed me) and then I look at the girl and point to Scott. I mention to Scott that this is one of those opportunities I am going to have to miss. He understood, but I couldn't tell if he was happy about passing it on to him. I feel like I have done a good thing, or at least avoided a bad situation for me. I leave the room and find myself back at the gate.

The guy with the Santas has put them all back up (with shrapnel now). Except the easiest way to put the shrapnel in (and the explosives before it) is through the back, where there is a panel held on by 4 screws where the batteries go. Since the shrapnel is in the very back of the Santa's, they are all facing the grate, with their backs to the potential attack. And of course the motion sensors in in the front of them... I look at them and watch as the guy screws the last battery cover on the last Santa and puts it on the shelf. He pulls the coat down and to cover the battery cover and smiles, so proud of his work. I am not impressed. I think it might not look too suspicious and might cause some confusion but won't stop an attack. For some reason I know the people inside the building that was supposed to be a wal-mart (with Scott and the girl) are safe. The people outside, between the building at the gate are not. But I don't seem to care and just wish I had a rifle and someone watch my back and start walking away from the compound...

Then Shannon wakes me up as she answers her phone.
