The routine shifts, shifts perceptions, skews right angles, lends absent-minded forms to the shapeless. Names to the disenfranchized.

Stillness to a quaking hand. Serenity in a godless field.

The cattle tilt heads in curiosity, supper becomes dinner becomes the world.

I've only had this happen to me once that I am aware of. I had been away from home for over a month -- talk about a routine shift.

When I got back home, opened the door, and walked in, everything looked skewed, out of proportion, minimalized. And then, in an instant, it snapped back to its old recognizable shape.

The question that that left me with is which of the two views is the real one. And what on earth does 'real' mean in that context.

On the other hand, I don't know if 'cattle' are ever curious even when on their way to becoming dinner!!

Our physical therapist was out this week, so I still haven't been at my desk. Bleh.

Tits do change the meaning of the poem only slightly. That was hilarious.
