I am intrigued by the story you picked as your favorite and your explanation as to why you liked this one the best. It makes me want to read it and I will.
This is so funny that you say that because as I was writing it I was thinking "boy you are doing a great sell job on your writing here; 'stomach-churningly repulsive and lacking in passion?' pretty much just ensured that anyone who hasn't read your stuff yet is going to keep things that way, Snick." Apparently reverse psychology works on you. ;)
Stomach-churningly repulsive coupled with 'my fave of faves in 2012' is a sure fire guarantee that I want to check this out. Maybe it's the mixed message that addles my brain and makes me dive in?
Well, Passing The Buck was my favourite as well -- and not just because it was written for me me meeeeee or because it IS my TWD OTP, though both those things is true. It is just perfectly written, subtle and nuanced and bittersweet, and then you gave me the most perfect ending and. It is literally in my Top Five -- hell, it is probably Top TWO -- of any TWD fic written, so. Yes. Definitely my favourite.
And it WAS a stretch for you, writing outside your comfort zone. A good thing, in a way that writing angst because angst is a stretch yet it's not fun to write is not. If that makes sense.
When I set out to write that story I was hoping writing in a new fandom would fuel me with renewed excitement about writing, and that I would maybe even learn more about that fandom and the people in it, connect with it, be drawn in and perhaps write more stories for The Walking Dead. This is interesting and intriguing to me. In what manner did you hope for "renewed excitement"? I'm curious -- did you think that the second half of your statement

Being a mom IS fun; I miss the baby days, I can't deny, especially when kid is immersed in pewdiepie videos on YouTube and has no idea if I'm there or not until he gets hungry.
Teenagers, Bah.
But you have a cutie there, and I'm glad you're enjoying the ride. :)
LOL oh what I have to look forward to. I'm sure there's fun to be had at that stage too (not the least of which is having your life back) but yes I'm counting on getting there being fun too. :)
Oh, you have no idea, so cherish this part NAO. No, I love my kid, i love talking to him and having interesting conversations, but he's just in full teenager mode, is all. We've all been there and done that, and that's what I need to remember when I want to brain him.
