That's where I recognised him from! I knew I knew the face, but could'nt place him/ More things in heaven and earth indeed. (Saw him and DT live perform it live in Stratford - so good!)
I was lucky enough to see it the Cinema at the Media Museum, rather than at home on my own. Lots of gasps, laughter and cheers!
Unexpected Capaldi and Baker was great too.
Have you see the Five-ish Doctor reboot? It's hilarous, and quite touching too.
I saw it live also. PdJ was also in Broadchurch with Tennant, which I've seen even more recently than Hamlet, but it was recalling him in Hamlet that finally allowed me to put the name to the face.
I've not see all of the TFDR yet. Just off to watch it properly, in fact.
I had my squeee moments and my tearful moments and my clapping moments. I loved how Moffat worked everyone in somehow: from Ian Chesteron being the chairman at the school, to Foreman on the scrapyard sign, to Clara teaching at *the* school, to River's red Loubotin's (which are apparently a weapon of some sort??), to Kate's assistant's scarf, to Jack's vortex manipulator, and the UNIT vetting board which had pictures of SjS and Martha and Susan and so many more. Even having Hurt!Eight sipping tea in a big armchair.
All the little details were perfect.
The acting and the script weren't half bad either. ;)
I also thought they did a great job on the CGi for the Gallifrey battle scenes. And I also went Oh! Dude from Hamlet! And Broadchurch! Back again with DT!! :D
I think the only thing that could have made it better for me would have been Romana as the Prez on Gallifrey, but maybe that was plain overload.
Also loved the The Night of the Doctor btw. So happy that Moffat and PM did something together if he wasn

Are we calling John Hurt's Doctor 'Eight'? (Thank you, Moffat, for screwing with our heads, and the numbering!)
I kept looking at Peter de Jersey's face, thinking "You've worked with DT before - but what in?" and then it suddenly clicked at 4.30 this morning on my way back from the bathroom - I just went "Horatio!"
I loved The Night of the Doctor - I hope they put it on the DVD (they surely wouldn't leave it off?).
The only thing I really disliked is the whole Elizabeth I thing - but then again, I've hated that since RTD brought it up.
(Also - the rabbit scene - makes me giggle just recalling it!)
LOL @ Horatio!! My reaction was British!Marcel!! I have a friend named Marcel, who looks just like him. It's crazy the resemblance.
I loved the Bunny thing too; it kind of took the Mickey out of every time Ten's given that speech.
The Capaldi moment also excited me. I love the way they just snuck it in.
And I agree about the numbering system. It was either Hurt!Eight (which still doesn't sound right), or 8.5. There really isn't an appropriate designator yet for him.
As far as TNotD, I was on Amazon On Demand and Vudu (another streaming video service stateside), and they only had the first minisode listed. I'm keeping hope alive because I want to own Night of the Doctor, but I'm doubtful since I was already able to buy and watch Day of the Doctor at 2:30am, but the minisode still isn't there. :-/
I do have to say, Moffat has done a good job of keeping a lid on the spoilers since he took over. And I am excited to see what he does with an 'older' Doctor. And of course, who his new companion will be after Clara (inevitably) departs. Though

I loved it, especially because it retcons EoT and (for more selfish reasons) I don't have to retcon any fic. ;)
Baker's appearance was nice, but for me, it was the weakest part of it. That's not to say I hated it, it's just that the rest of it was incredibly strong writing. (I hope the Christmas special doesn't disappoint. They've been...silent...on it.)
I really hope this means season 8 is when they bring Gallifrey back. The lonely God arc has been done to death, and they really need to mix things up now. Plus the Doctor's character really needs his people to say, "No, really, you're being an asshole."
Well I should think they have been silent about the Xmas special - why talk about that when there was the 50th anniversary special in all its gloriousness to deliver?
True. I just hope they didn't blow their budget and proverbial wad on the anniversary and let the Christmas one be...substandard. Then again it can't be as bad as End of Time.
As you know from Tumblr, I was also dreading it, but... I loved that almost without reservation. (The reservations would include Elizabeth, though that would explain why she wanted Tennant's Doctor damaged in RTD's era, right? Also the fact that BBC America's schedule on their website was simply wrong for my timezone, even when I translated back to Pacific Time, so I missed the ad-free simulcast and had to sit through the agonizingly ad-filled repeat
( ... )
A pox on BBC America and their terrible scheduling!
Yeah, I could've lived without the Elizabeth sub-plot...
8.5 seems like a good number for Hurt!Doctor.
I've no idea how they kept Tom's appearance under wraps, but it's awesome they did! And yes, I recognised his voice instantly, having been listening to The Light at the End only a few hours earlier!
Capaldi!Doctor has some very intense eyebrows - I hope they come back!
