I really should rewatch this episode sometime. I haven't watched the 9th Doctor episodes since they aired. I know I'm probably going to be burned at the stake for this, but I didn't like Eccleston much.

I have to say it took me a couple of watches of S1 to grow to love Nine as much as I do...

Don't get me wrong, I'd still watch them (I do watch Time Flight, too.) But I'm a fan. ;)

This is the first episode I ever saw of the NuWho, and it solidified my belief that Nine is and always shall be my personal fave. It also had me arguing with my BF over whether or not John Barrowman's American accent was real.

Well John's accent's semi-real - he lived over in the US for a long time, though he's Scottish by descent.

Two (small!) nit picks... It's not a G&T, it's a Vodka Martini (unless G&T's have vermouth in them?)

Also - Barrowman was born in Glasgow (and has dual nationality)... um... sorry 'bout that;)

Who doesn't share the Doctor's glee that 'just this once, everybody lives'? anyone who is minus a pulse?
Best Squee Moment Evar!

Other than that - I do love these and look forward to the next few!

*shrugs* I'm teetotal, so I wouldn't know.

Not sure why you're telling me JB was born in Glasgow - I never said he wasn't Scottish born...

Great comments! It was kind of like re-watching the episode along with you. : )

One thing, though -- hasn't the Doctor always disliked weapons? For example, I remember him refusing to take a gun in Pyramids of Mars with a disdainful "I never carry firearms."

Hee, thanks...

Well yes and no - he does occasionally use weapons when he's Three - but he doesn't RANT about hating them when he's working for UNIT, like Ten rants at Colonel Mace for being armed (when the man's a soldier FFS!). That rant continues to piss me off! I was SO glad that Martha had a go at him about it, because he was well out of order.

Fair point. That rant was over-the-top, I agree. It's reasonable to conjecture that the Time War changed a previous "don't like them but I'll use them occasionally" attitude into an outright hatred of weapons.

Indeed! I can understand that change and appreciate the hatred, but I cannot understand Ten ranting at a military man for carrying a gun. He knows better than that!

Despite some problems, these are my absolute fave new Who eps.

I must admit, I like them a lot better than many other S1 stories.
