Aaaahhhh...sounds like an interesting episode! I probably won't watch TW, seeing as how I've hardly watched any eps, but this one seems pretty good. And I think I'd watch just for the Martha shout-out.

So Martha finally tied the knot, huh? Well, because I love her, I'll be happy for her (I still wish she could have been with Handy).

Yeah but we've no idea who she's married - neither Jack nor Gwen specified. She could be married to Donna. :P

I have yet to see this so-called husband of Martha, so in my mind, she's still available. A ring don't mean a thang!

Well no one's seen him - he's Mr Invisible Husband of Invisibleness, just as he was Mr Invisible Fiance of Invisibleness... One of my friends is convinced Martha's just made him up!

In that case, I too have an Invisible Husband of Invisibleness, my fabulous Invisible Gay Husband of Invisible Fabulousness. And we own two Invisible Dogs, and drive around in our Invisible car, and have Invisible picnics and swinger parties with our married Invisible Friends.

Yeah, I love the way they try to hint that Martha has moved on by giving her a partner we never get to see.

And of course a POC has to be evil!*sarcasm* Why I am not surprised?

I'm vaguely hoping Lois Habiba (who's the other half of Martha's stand-in - see, Martha's so good they had to replace here with TWO characters!) will turn out to be a good guy!

Oh, and I didn't find the kids' chanting in unison scary. Sorry...

I found it creepiest when they said "we are coming...back." That's when they got me.

But Rhys? Awesome!
Gwen's sonic? Awesome!
Rupesh? Knew he was going to be a baddie from the get go. Sigh.
The Martha thing? Loved that Jack turns to her in a crisis. Hated not finding out who she's married to. Could literally be anyone at this point.

Also, loved Ianto hugging Jack when he found out he'd been killed. There was just something great about that to me.

That was an explosive start to the season!

Seriously! One of the best Torchwood episodes in a while. Can't wait to see the James Moran one on Wednesday.

Didn't bother me in the least. The Whoniverse must try harder when it comes to scaring me!

Yes!

See, I thought Rusty had FINALLY learned his lesson about the racial thing - but NO... Silly Pers for being so optimistic!

My money's on Clone!Ten, running away from Rose! :P

When you've got the private number of the Master-pwning, Earth-saving Martha Jones, who else are you going to turn to?

Oh yes - I forgot to mention that...

I can't wait to see ANY of them!

I suppose not. Although there is the girl at the Home Office. Perhaps she's going to come through for us...

I wouldn't put it past him! He probably never got to properly say goodbye to Martha Jones before he was exiled to keep the blonde from doing anything else particularly stupid Pete's World.

I'm not betting on her surviving the week, though...

Exactly. He probably got so sick of her comparing him to the 'real' Doctor, that he went and fixed up the dimension cannon and leapt for sanity!

I loved Ianto's family. Trying to work it into a fic somehow...

Rupesh being a bad guy bothered me, too. I mean, come on. That stereotype has been done to death.

The ending made me wibble a bit, even though you KNOW they're not going to kill off Jack in ep. 1.

Have fun with Ianto's family!

It has been done to death - and it makes me want to do something painful to Rusty that he keeps bloody reverting to that stereotype!

No, they're not going to kill Jack off in episode one...

Although at first I wondered if there wasn't a different type of trope at play--I know people over there have a different kinds of racial issues over there than we do here.

It seems like they put people of color into the show (both TW and Who) and don't really care how they're depicted. that is, they're too busy tryign to be inclusive to really look at what those characters are doing. that's one big thing that bugged me about the sleeper agent episode from Torchwood last year: the only person of color was the one who was the sleeper agent. (Yes, there were other sleeper agents, but the story didn't focus on them.) I know how Martha's family was treated in the season 3 finale caused an uproar over here. (Can't say I blame them...they could've been put in a degrading/captive position without resorting to historical stereotypes.)

Oh, I've heard many, many times about the furore caused by the treatment of Martha's family in the finale to S3.

To be honest, I think RTD and Andy Prior (the casting guy for the Whoniverse shows) aren't *really* thinking it through - they're striving to have more CoC in the shows, so they cast coloured actors, without stopping to think about how those characters are being portrayed. At least, that's my charitable interpretation. When I'm feeling really pissed off with RTD, I wonder if he does it on purpose.
