Liz! *melts*

I really love how you're drawing the parallels between Liz and Martha; one of the main reasons I love them both is that they don't need the Doctor to validate them, but that doesn't mean they don't value him or their time with him.

I luffs Liz!! (And the idea of Liz and Martha in that year - I might have to write that fic...)

I think they both care about the Doctor very deeply and value his opinion while knowing that they are pretty darn good all by themselves... (I think I need a Liz icon, actually!)

Oh, please do! I'm thinking about including her in I'll Meet You...

I'll see what the bunnies bring me. I have a partially written Martha/Liz prons around here somewhere already... (It's one of - what, eight? - incomplete fics on my hard drive right now!)

What a sweet little chapter. A nice bonding moment between companions.

There so needs to be a former Companions group! I really like the idea of companions meeting up, especially if it's like this. Well...without her accidently ending up there! ;)

I like the idea of them meeting up too. I have this fanon that all those companions who are still alive have an extended network between them, and while they might not all see each other regularly, they stay in touch one way or another, and then when things like the Year the Master ruled happen, they quietly work to do whatever's necessary...

"And I couldn't help feeling that all he really needed was someone to pass him his test tubes and tell him how brilliant he was, and anyone could have done that. Plus, I had my own research that I'd been dragged away from and wanted to get back to doing."

She looked up at Martha from the fake gun designs that she was working on. "Whatever you do, Martha, don't let him make you forget what your priorities are, because no matter how exciting life with him is, it won't last forever."

Martha gave her a wry smile. "I know."

I think the phrase I'm searching for is Made of Win.

Or something like that. Wonderful stuff!

I love the idea of Liz and Martha meeting during the YTNW -- they are so much alike when it comes to the Doctor (well, at least from what I know about Liz), so I am glad they are getting to know one another.

There are some similarities between Martha and Liz. But the key difference is that Liz knew that Three cared about her. There's a beautiful moment in "The Ambassadors of Death" where Three comes to after being gassed to find Liz on her knees beside him as he lies and the floor, and she's cradling his head in her hands. She asks him if he's all right, and he says yes, "and getting better by the minute" as he reaches up to stroke her cheek. And Liz, of course, had the advantage over Martha of being Three's first companion. Mind you, Three's not a git to any of his three companions. When he discovers that Jo is to be his new assistant, he tells her that he needs a scientist but he doesn't tell that she can't or won't replace Liz...
