"You know I'm surprised your dental practitioner hasn't warned you about not clenching your teeth like that," he said, as he wandered over to the lift. "It will eventually have an impact on your ability to articulate clearly."
His response reminds me so much of Donna!
I also love Alt!Martha's minor personality changed, like her being a lot more flirty than she is in 'our' universe. But that could also be that's she older! I really like her bluntness as well, it's used just enough that it still catches John off guard but not enough that he gets annoyed. Makes me giggle to be honest!
"Do you want tea or coffee?" she asked.
"Yes please."

Adeola being Martha's twin in this universe really gets to me because I'm a twin as well and can only imagine how heart breaking it would be to lose my sister! :( I think you did a wonderful job portraying her emotions in this bit.

My favorite part of this, so far, has to be the fact that John can't help but act like Donna sometimes, as she is part his creator. I love that! Also, that he doesn't try to bend over backwards to please Rose and be like the Doctor. He deserves to be his own person. (But since I bloody hate Rose, I guess I could be biased 0_0)
I love that John gets on well with Jackie (as she and Mickey are two of my favs).
Martha is still sweet and compassionate, and even a bit more fiesty!
I cannot wait for more!

I'm glad that the Donna part of John is coming across to people because I wanted that, but I wanted it to be fairly subtle.
I love that John gets on well with Jackie (as she and Mickey are two of my favs).
I must admit, I didn't think much of Jackie initially - or Mickey, come to that - but they both got good character development over the four years (more so, I'd say, than Rose!)

And yes, Rose didn't grow in canon, so I see no need to attempt that growth in my fic...
I know Martha may not have completely honest intentions, but no matter what world she's in, she's still the same Martha. I have faith that she'll prove to be an honorable woman and have the Doc's interest at heart...even if she needs a bit of convincing at first! lol
I'm intrigued by the fact people are wondering about Martha's motives. What in this first part of the fic worries you about her motives?
And I love your Alt! Doctor. He is filled with rage but this time it's going to be a more matured, confident, take no crap or prisoners Martha that's going to set our man to rights (hopefully...)!
There's actually a good reason for his rage (aside from his emotional response to being separated from the Doctor and Donna: in this respect he's like Martha after she lost Adeola, because he's essentially a triplet on his own...)

It's how I've been thinking of him since the moment he was "born"...
I find the more alternate universe Doctor fictions that I read, it's really, really horrible what RTD did to handy. Handy was such a pawn instead of a living breathing being. Even in the S4 finale compassion and emotion was missing from Donna (we all know how compassionate she can be- Fire of Pompeii being a perfect example followed by DDaughter). Just a "look what he's giving you," Didn't know handy was a what.
Yes. It really narks me that the Doctor didn't think through what he was doing to Handy, dumping him off with Rose. He'd have been much better off in our universe (preferably with/near Martha - she'd have kept an eye on him and helped him out, because that's who she is).
THe Doctor was just fooling himself to think that Rose would be satisfied with anyone other than him. Even then, she'd get tired of him after a while considering that even though he spoiled her, he'd never give her the domestic scene she wanted ( ... )

She's older and more confident (and not had to suffer unfair comparisons with a blonde!)
And Rose is such a bitch! Then again, that doesn't surprise me after her reaction at Bad Wolf Bay.
Yup - I've just taken the reaction she had in the two part finale and run on with it. She made it quite clear she didn't really want Human-Ten (even Rusty knew that was bad writing, but still he persisted in writing it!)
I can't wait for part 2.
