one who's prepared to kiss his arse when he needs it, but also to hug him when he needs it (eg in Midnight)

I'm thinking you meant to write "kick"?

Yes.

Between this and the amount of wrongness on sizeofthatthing, I couldn't resist posting a rather dark prompt for the kinkmeme. Donna was crying and saying "no" so much that it was hard to see what Ten was doing as something other than a violation, so I was afraid of what that might do to his mind ...

Hey, how do you think it made me feel, knowing that the idea came from my head? :(

- Davros' comment about the way the Doctor takes ordinary humans and turns them into weapons - ouch! Yet so true - and Ten didn't try to deny it (Martha was totally his secret weapon last year against the Master for a start).I actually felt Ten's pain when this was happening. it isn't like he askes people to die for him, and certainly isn't a choice when he is rendered helpless, so yeah they had to be a "weapon" of sorts. I think Davros was having sour grapes! I think Ten was giving Rose his HumanTimelordself because he (like was explained) he needed fixing, like she fixed him, because he was concerned that he was getting like he was before and after the Time War- full of anger and revenge ( ... )

I'm not saying the Doctor doesn't do what he needs to, in turning people into weapons - but Davros was right on the nail when he said that...

I know Donna's mind wipe was a necessary evil - but RTD didn't HAVE to write it that way. He could have given her a heroic death instead - that would have been more in keeping with her character growth - esp after "Turn Left"...

I have no patience whatsoever with Ten/Rose and I really don't care what happens with them so long as we never have to see Rose on Who again.

I agree about Donna 100% I would of liked to of seen her do something heroic! RTD needs a pitch fork up his arse! for that!

I know Davros hit the nail, but with the Dr he doesn't get a choice in people being weapons. It's just that I really felt that! I know what it is like to have truth twisted around to hurt you, my mum did it so yeah that struck a cord with me, and Davros got everything he deserved!

I really do not want to see Rose again either-as far as I'm concerned her story has ended!

Let's hope Moffatt drops RTD's annoying repetitive sub plot references/Rose emo stuff!

I doubt we'll get (m)any references to former companions unless he writes them into (a) specific episode(s) - after all, every single Moffat episode so far has concentrated more on the character he's created (Jack, Reinette, Sally Sparrow, River) than the current companion.

Martha threatening to destroy the Earth to save it from the Daleks worried me - that's making her like the Doctor in the Time War, and that's not a good thing

It's almost destroying the world that worries me about the way Martha's character has headed this series. Don't get me wrong I love kiss ass UNIT Martha, but...she seems to have lost something of herself from last years final - where she pointed out that she saved the world with words and not weapons.

If she is going into Torchwood (which I hope, but I'm still not 100% sure how I feel about it) she'll fit in...they've all lost a bit of themselves there.

God that all sounded so depressing - I'm sorry.

No, that's OK - it was totally that kind of episode...

I'm still not sure how I feel about Martha joining Torchwood either. On the one hand, she might get a better story if she's there for the 5 ep season, but on the other hand is Torchwood the best place for her? As you say, they're all a bit f*cked in the head there...

The thing with Martha joining Torchwood is that I've always said if I had to pick between Tosh or Martha in Torchwood I'd pick Tosh because Martha has the potential to come back in Doctor Who, Tosh never did.

With Tosh gone, Martha going into Torchwood is somewhat bitter sweet. Not to mention they totally wasted her character in two out of the three episodes last time and it could happen all over again, just over five episodes instead.

- The Veran Soothsayer gave Sarah Jane the other Deux ex machina of the week: that's the second time someone's given Sarah Jane an all-important object at a handy moment (see Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane?)

And there was that handy outer-space mobile phone in Invasion Of The Bane.

Which phone was that? (It's been a while since I watched IoB)

That would be the one the Torchwood alien gave her if she ever needed help with poetry, that Luke used to call the Bane and blow them up. ^^

That wasn't a phone though - a communicator, but not an actual phone - and to be fair, it was given with the intention of it being used for something entirely different - not quite the same as handing someone a warp star in a pendant!
