Donna looked around the TARDIS Control Room. "Where's Rose?" she asked.

"Showing Jackie around the TARDIS," Jack answered. "She said she hadn't seen it properly before, so Rose offered to show her some of it before we get back home."

Donna nodded, then looked surprised when the Doctor's clone, whom they had nicknamed 'Handy', grasped her wrist.

"What's up alien boy?" she teased.

"I wanted to say goodbye," he answered.

"Goodbye?" asked Donna with a frown. "Why goodbye? You're coming with me and 'im." She jerked a thumb at the Time Lord.

"No, I'm going with Rose and Jackie," he told her. "The Doctor thinks Rose'll be happy to stay in the other universe if I go with her."

"Oh."

By now everyone in the Control Room was following this exchange, and the Doctor was looking distinctly uncomfortable at the glances he was getting from his companions.

"It's okay," Handy said. "I'm happy to go if it'll make Rose happy. But I wanted to say goodbye to everyone first."

Martha moved over from the Doctor's side and wrapped her arms around him. "Take care of yourself, mister," she said softly. "Remember you've only got one lifetime to live."

"I will Dr Jones," he answered, looking down into her upturned face. He reached up and cupped her face, kissing her deeply.

Jack began cheering, and Sarah Jane laughed as Martha pulled away with a gasp.

"Blimey!" she exclaimed. "That was better than when the Doctor kissed me."

"Yeah?" asked Handy, looking smug. He raised an eyebrow at the Time Lord, then turned to Donna with an expectant look.

"Oh go on then," she said.

"You won't be so reluctant in a minute," Martha warned, giggling. Jack and Sarah Jane were both laughing at the Doctor's stormy expression as he folded his arms across his chest.

"Oh my god!" exclaimed Donna enthusiastically when Handy finally released her. "That was a fantastic kiss!"

"Told you," Martha said, smirking.

"Jack?" Handy approached the immortal man who enthusiastically wrapped his arms around the human Doctor.

"You bet!" Jack answered.

"I think someone's ego's a little bruised," commented Sarah Jane, approaching the Doctor to hug him.

Martha immediately stepped to his other side and wrapped her arms around him too. "Poor Doctor," she cooed.

"Oi!" he retorted, trying to sound annoyed, but secretly enjoying his companions' attentions.

"What do you reckon, Jack?" asked Donna from the other side of the console. "Is Handy a better kisser?"

"I don't know," Jack answered. "I've never kissed this Doctor."

"Oh well, you'd better do a comparison, then," Donna said swiftly.

"Maybe we all should?" Martha suggested, grinning up at the Time Lord, who rolled his eyes.

"Line up, ladies and gentlemen, for the ultimate snogging test!" announced Donna loudly.

There was much laughter and some friendly jostling as Donna got the Doctor and his clone to stand side by side, and then organised Jack, Sarah Jane and Martha into a line - Mickey refused to join in, but he pulled out his phone when no one was looking so that he could film it.

"Go on Jack!" Martha urged as Donna stepped behind her.

Nothing loath, Jack approached the Time Lord and kissed him heartily until he was gasping. He gulped in several deep breaths, then moved to the side and kissed Handy until he was breathless again.

"Marks out of ten?" Donna asked.

"Nine and a half for the Doctor," Jack answered, "Ten for Handy."

Handy pumped his fists in the air, while the Doctor scowled.

"You're next Sarah Jane," Donna instructed, making a note of Jack's scores in her notebook.

Sarah Jane's face was flushed, but Martha wasn't sure if it was embarrassment or something else. She knew the older woman had a long history with the Doctor, and she couldn't help wondering if Sarah Jane had stronger feelings for the Time Lord.

She watched closely as the Doctor cupped Sarah Jane's face tenderly before giving her a lingering tender kiss. She and Donna both applauded when the Time Lord released her, and Martha, close as she was standing by that point, could see the tenderness and affection in the Doctor's eyes as Sarah Jane moved to his twin.

Sarah Jane was even more flushed when she'd kissed Handy as well, and mumbled her response to Donna's request for her scores. The Doctor looked triumphant when Sarah Jane awarded him nine and a half points over Handy's nine.

Then it was Martha's turn and she suddenly felt shy as the Doctor held her shoulders and looked down into her eyes, his own very dark as he gazed at her.

"You're meant to be kissing her, not admiring her eyes!" Jack called out, and Martha immediately ducked her head, feeling her face heat up.

The Doctor lifted his right hand and raised her head with one finger under her chin. "You've got lovely eyes," he said very softly, then kissed her until she felt her knees growing weak and she was clinging to his arms to stay upright.

When he released her Martha felt dazed and she was glad when Handy put an arm around her body. "You okay?" he asked anxiously.

"Yeah," she answered. "I think so." She glanced up at the Doctor and saw the same sort of tenderness in his expression that she'd seen after he'd kissed Sarah Jane, and she wondered what it meant, but decided that now was not the time to ask.

"Well, then, Dr Jones, my turn now. You ready?" asked Handy.

Martha gave him a nod and he cupped her face as gently as the Doctor had that time he'd kissed her on the Moon. The kiss Handy gave her was not quite as intense as the one the Doctor had just given her - and her knees didn't weaken to quite the same extent.

"And the scores on the doors, please, Dr Jones?" asked Donna, when Handy finally let Martha go.

She looked between the two men, then at her friends. "Ten for the Doctor, nine and a half for Handy," she answered. "Sorry," she added, turning to the human clone.

He pouted at her and she looked slightly stricken, but he laughed, then caught her up in a hug and span her around.

"Forgiven, Dr Jones," he said as he set her back down on her feet again.

"Donna's turn!" exclaimed Jack, very excitedly. He started chanting her name until she gave him a very threatening glare.

"What's in your mouth?" she asked the Doctor, who looked startled for a moment, until he realised why she was asking, then he grinned and Handy guffawed.

Sarah Jane, Jack and Mickey all looked puzzled, so Martha explained about Donna curing the Doctor's arsenic poisoning on the occasion that Donna and the Doctor had met Agatha Christie.

"Eww," said Sarah Jane with a shudder.

"I can think of better things to have in your mouth when kissing someone," began Jack.

"Stop it!" Martha said, laughing.

"I can assure you there's nothing untoward in my mouth," the Doctor was telling Donna.

"Just make sure there isn't, Space Man, or you'll be in trouble," the redhead retorted.

"Cross my hearts," the Time Lord replied.

"Come on, Donna, kiss him already!" Jack called, earning another glare.

"When you're ready, Miss Noble," the Doctor said gently.

Donna gave him a nod and he put his hands on her shoulders, then leaned in for a kiss. Everyone laughed when she pulled away much sooner than anyone else.

"That's enough of that, Space Man," she chided. "I don't want you getting ideas."

The Doctor looked slightly hurt, but he covered it quickly and gestured for her to kiss his clone.

Handy suddenly looked slightly nervous, and Donna smirked at him before she grabbed his face and kissed him quite thoroughly.

"Well, what's the verdict?" asked Jack when she let the human Doctor go again.

"Hmm. Nine to the Doctor, nine and a half to Handy," she answered. She glanced down at her notebook, then laughed.

"What's so funny?" asked Sarah Jane.

"They both got 38 points," Donna answered, "and after saying that Handy was the better kisser, Martha actually marked the Doctor higher."

"Well, well," said Jack, leering a little at the diminutive young woman beside him.

"Stop it, Jack!" said Martha immediately. "Anyway, Sarah Jane agreed with me, she scored the Doctor slightly higher too."

"Yeah, but you were the one that started this," Jack answered, smirking.

Martha was saved from having to answer by Jackie and Rose entering the Control Room.

"Did you have fun without me?" asked Rose.

Everyone exchanged a silent look, hiding smiles as the Doctor said that they'd been catching up, and then everyone had to concentrate on steering the TARDIS again in order to bring the Earth to its proper spot. Martha knew Jack would probably tease her about it afterwards, but for now it could be forgotten, if she could just get the image of the Doctor's tender expression out of her head.

The TARDIS materialised in a London park and there was a bustle of farewells, and Martha was almost as quick to step out of the ship as Sarah Jane, who was in a rush to get back to Luke.

"I'll see you later, Dr Jones," the Doctor whispered as he hugged her farewell before she offered him a salute.

Her eyes widened but she gave him a nod of agreement, even as she wondered why he was intending to come back to see her.
