Tonight I went to an amazing free (FREE!) concert at the Symphony Center in downtown Chicago

The concert consisted of RImsky-Korsakov's Russian Easter Overature, Shostakovich Piano Concerto #1, Stravinsky Firebird Suite and a piece thrown in by a Mexican for no particular reason.

Ah, yes: that concerto is sometimes billed as a concerto for piano and trumpet (and orchestra).

I prefer the second concerto, myself, but yeah, damn, good shit, huh?

(Duuuuuude. I want a musical threesome with Ravel and Debussy. Which I can have, thanks to the fact that Ravel orchestrated a bunch of Debussy's piano works!!)

Oooh! I've been wanting to hear Russian Easter Overture. We played it in band in like 10th grade or something and I thought it was about the prettiest piece that crappy low band 10th graders can play.

Um, Columbia has...almost free bluegrass (they want a $2 donation and I pay up). Thats 'bout all I got. But its actually pretty fun.
