I don't exactly like the major use of guns this season, nor Moffat's pattern of writing female characters who spend their lives waiting for the Doctor.
I find it interesting that so far the people who've shot someone have all been female (well, the astronaut is up for debate, but Amy and River are definite knowns).
On the latter point, yes, that is an interesting pattern of his. RTD did it, too, with both Rose and Sarah Jane. What is interesting to me, however, is that with Moffat's Who, we also have a man who waits: Rory waits 2000 years for Amy.
So...Amy is going to give birth to a TARDIS infected American who, I don't know, dreams up the Silence due to psychic suggestion? Mystical pregnancy...not so much my thing. This appears to be much more of a Big Questions arc than the previous series.
Also, there must be more Canton, I agree. (And I was SO SAD that context was given for the bowtie straightening moment). Also, Rory. Ftw. I think I managed to ship Rory with EVERYONE this episode and still feel a bit giddy from it. (also, the above comment about Rory waiting those 2000 years was awesome).
What I really want to know is how Alex Kingston manages to make River Song so compelling and attractive when she has been landed with some of the most melodramatic dialogue of the lot. And I really hope we get to see more of her this season, even if everything is getting a bit gun heavy, especially in contrast to Ten's aversion.
