Would you feel better or worse if you were in a place with a "feminazi" on every corner? I'm not being glib, I'm really curious. I grew up (and still live) in a place where my values are considered distasteful by most, but I think I'd rather be here where people actually hear what I have to say than in a place where what I say is drowned by a million similar voices.
Shit, that was an awkward sentence, but you can handle it.
I would prefer it, actually, depending on the definition of feminazi...I'd hate having to feel compelled to defend men just as much as women...neither group deserves the flak unilaterally. However, I'd prefer that the issues actually got dealt with, then we could move on. I DO hold that non-objectification of gender is a self-evident ideal...it surprises me that there aren't people bitching on every corner, in every coffee shop and at most weekend dinner parties.
If this issue ever does get dealt with in my lifetime, there are many more interesting things to bitch about that I'd be waaay happier devoting my time to. I'm not bitching to be unique...I'm bitching because I'm NOT unique. For the unique stuff, I'm acquiring credentials for eventual scholastic study, germinal research, and publication...so that others may bitch and cite, when I'm gone. ;-)
It hasn't been my experience that those saddled with the "feminazi" label are anti-male. If you lived in a place where the vast majority of women were vocally feminist, chances are the vast majority of men would be (at least kindasorta) on board as well.
I'd like to be able to get past it and move on, too, but I'm not sure the issue will ever be fully resolved. Sadly, I think it'll be a struggle for our granddaughters.
So, what's next on the agenda? Mind if I stick around and find out?
To be honest, I hate being labeled. I've always hated labels. I hate checking something for race, religion that sort of thing although I usually end up doing it--not to conform but rather to help for statistical purposes although when I'm in a bad mood I'll put other and write Celtic American because of course I hate labels and I'm making a funny
