Roasted Peeps

Apr 10, 2007 10:03

gotmoof loves me. He brought me home some post-holiday sale Peeps. Roasting them over an open flame makes them the crème brûlée of roasted marshmallows. They're almost too good for the likes of S'mores.

Funny... I was in New Orleans last weekend and I got to try some Peeps that my partner had. It was good breakfast. :-)

My friends in Kentucky had pancakes topped with Peeps over the weekend. What a curious chain of coincidences...

It's like sugar coated cereal, except you cut out the middle man.

I have about 12 packages in the back of my car. I bought them over a month ago and love them stale and chewy, so I'm aging them. I never thought of roasting them!

They're one of the few foods that are good even stale. The expiration date on the packages I bought is two years from now. Kind of scary when you think about it. I try not to think about it too much.

The Wikipedia article on them says that some people mircowave them, which I've heard of, but they mention jousting with tooth picks as well, and that's a new one on me. I'll have to try it.

I keep forgetting to try microwaving them. I've thought of floating them in a mug of hot chocolate. I've frozen them. I have no idea why I love them.

It must be nice to have a room mate who can get first pick of the clearance items at Target.

And the fact that it's Tim, that's a great plus in it's self.

Try ghost peeps that have been flamed once, there are cool looking. Me and hawksoul try and collect two packs each type through the year and on our summer camping trip we roast then.

Try roasting the x-mas ones all so.

Roasting stale Easter Peeps on Beltane is a Morris tradition, at least here in the Twin Cities.

Hey, we should talk sometime. I'm havin' ideas about your video project. (Heh, heh, heh...)

Yes. I probably won't start shooting until warmer weather. Slower the vision is starting to gel. I should have you over to see the inspiring film in question.

Sounds good to me. We could do some test footage, however, before 'principle filming'.

I forget if I mentioned this, but one idea I had was using Brian Eno's "Music For Films", which sort of sounds like Phillip Glass's stuff but is copywrite free, or I could dummy up something that sounds like Glass on Garageband.

How long did you see this being? Five minutes? Ten minutes?

Anywho, talk later.

I'm not sure how long yet, but I'm thinking it might be longer. Let me think about the music. That decision can be made later.
