I cannot write, at least not about the Eurotrip, it feels so distant.  So much has happened since then, and it's all filling my head.  A great teacher of mine from high school died far too young, my brother married a wonderful woman, and I'm waiting for medical clearance from the Peace Corps.  If they do clear me I'll be leaving in January to teach ( Read more... )

Dublin is kinda an expensive city and on a student's budget it can be a bit daunting, so any free activity is a plus (we learned this in London also where our entertainment for the first night was walking on the south side of the Thames watching street performers...oh and lots of London museums like the Tate Modern are free, it was awesome).  So my ( Read more... )

This is my last full day in Ecuador. I have been thinking about what I would write for my last post. I thought about making a list of things I would most miss, and things that I would least miss about being here. I thought about writing about everything I've learned being in Ecuador. So I finished everything at the University today. Took my Ecology final last Thursday, finished my Archeology paper, and had my literature final this morning. As I handed in my paper, I chanced a glance at the professor's grade-book and saw that I apparently had a C in the class. My initial reaction was one of shock, then I thought, "Wait, no.   Everyone told me that about around October the rains in Quito would start, and that they would arrive consistently every afternoon.  Around October they did start...and then stopped; it's been pretty dry, which is nice in that I don't have to walk through the rain when I go out, it's not so nice in that about 42% of Ecuador's energy comes from ( Read more... )
