[Crowe's a pretty observant guy, it's not hard to notice everyone acting differently. His blushing, awkward schoolmates; the strangely large amount of cars, even for Valentine's Day, parked at the hotel, the restaurants and heading to Makeout Point. Was the town up to something again - maybe something like a love potions or tainted candy again? ( Read more... )

[Have a voice kinda just appear in your head/]

IT SEEMS AS THOUGH SOMETHING ODD IS GOING ON.

[Death, stater of the obvious.]

[Even as this happens often in class, getting used to that voice was something Crowe had a hard time with.]

Ah. Yes, sir, I agree. But it's not like Mayfield to leave some people alone while everyone else... has whatever sort of Valentine's Day bug they've got.

[Most people would agree with you there.]

VALENTINES. WHAT SORT OF HOLIDAY IS IT SUPPOSED TO BE NORMALLY?

Oh, uh, sort of a holiday about love, I guess. Sweethearts. That sort of thing.

I feel perfectly normal.

["Normal" was never a word Crowe used to describe his science teacher.]

Ah, well that's good. I wonder if certain people weren't affected at all, or just not yet...

[What are you talking about? She's perfectly normal]

Perhaps.

Though I don't think I was programmed to be capable of that emotion.

[Then again she hadn't been programmed with neurotoxin but hey...]

W-Well, everyone starts off human in Mayfield, right? It's a normal human emotion.

The town is altering memories. Especially ones they shouldn't be.

I-It is?! You can tell? ...I'm guessing it has something to do with making people fall for each other...?

That's the gist of it, yes. And yes. I can tell.

[His voice is cold. Not the usual cool monotone he adopts. There's genuine anger underneath it.]

...It's not happened to everyone, though. I-I mean, I suppose it would be hard to tell if they did, but I don't think I've...

[He's glad being that he has someone here he likes quite a bit.]

"I wish I knew. I have a set of memories of me committing heresy that I...."

"I'm not sure I regret. That frightens me. And Astartes know no fear. The idea that this town could influence my oaths, the core of my beliefs is profoundly disturbing. Even the malignant influence of Chaos could not do that."

H-Heresy?! Sir, is it... is it that bad?

"Indeed. I betrayed faith in the imperial truth and the Emperor for love, or so it seems."

[he scowls]

"I carried on with a non-human."

O-Oh. Really? Um.

[God he doesn't even know where to go with this.]

I'm sorry?

No clue what's going on, but I'm feeling fine m'self.

So strange that it's only affecting certain people. Or maybe it just hasn't hit the rest of us yet?

Sure hope not. [ Not much weirds Higgs out, so honestly the sudden burst of lovey-dovey-ness has made him more...suspicious than anything. ]

Same here. I feel bad for the others, but it's nice to catch a break, too.
