Sometimes, some crimes go slipping through the cracks, leaving the victims left alone and without sufficient means of indemnification. Hundreds- nay, thousands of these crimes occur each year; a flaw in a justice system that has grown from strong roots, however rotted the soil may have been. Atrocities and crimes against even the foundations of ( Read more... )

And answer we shall.

Not only the people of Ivona, Mr. Yagami, but all sentient beings who are bound both by morals and the principle of what it means to be rational, decent, sane. We, all of us, are individuals whose fates are bound up in Reial's own present -- and what seems to be a dark future.

Indeed, terrorism has always struck a blow to both sides of any fight. One may sustain a physical and morale blow, but it is the other side that is now seen as less than human: a dishonorable band with uncouth morals, who would not know a rational decision if it were forced before their very eyes. Such a bold, yet unprompted move suggests a more cowardly leader that would prefer to die than to work to make this country a better place.

Yet, while the present seems dark, I must respectfully disagree, sir. The future of Reial is yet unknown, but the brightest sun can often rise from the darkest night. I would like to think that the future before us can once more become a shining beacon that will help us all rise from the murk and ignoble acts we have witnessed so suddenly these past days.

I, too, am glad that we are of like mind. It is a comfort to know that one is not alone in these turbulent times.

Well said, Lieutenant. The criminals shall be found, they will be tried, and they will be punished.

Thank you, Lieutenant Commander. Indeed, I admit I look forward to the day that we may put this day behind us, having retired such heinous criminals from society.

It may not happen in the next two, three decades, but one day I hope that it can be done.

Such inspiring and impressive words. But do you have the means by which to support your declaration? Unfortunately, not all of Ivona feels as you do.

Words alone would be pointless if they did not inspire the support lurking within the hearts of those with like mind.

Not all of Ivona may feel as I feel, but that in itself can also be a comfort. For if the supporters of justice and freedom were fighting only for those who supported them and who agreed with their words, they could not call themselves just, nor free. My words are meant to support those who disagree as well as those who believe in them, even if they do not wish it so.

Your sense of justice and your faith in your people is commendable. We can only hope that it all of Ivona and Reial feels the same.

Agreed. It does not pain me to say that I respect those of differing opinions, but as you say: I must ultimately believe in my people, my country, and the justice that fate will rain upon those who have broken its laws.

And what of those who believe that justice does not lie within Ivonian laws?

Then it is up to Ivona to show them that justice is alive and well within our borders, is it not? That we shall be its messengers even when all our cities have been burned by those opposing it.
