Some lovely person was so kind to gift
perfect_duet with two months of paid time. Whoever it was, please pm me, so I can thank you properly. :D The gift makes the Oakum Meme so much easier because it brought the subject headers back.
So, once more onto the breach:

The report gives no details, but it seemed she (Diana Maturin) pitched over - the whole shooting-match, coach, horses and all, pitched over right down into the river and only the groom was brought out alive.
This is pretty much all we hear of the death of not only the major character Diana, but of Sophie's mother, of her companion and of Colonel Cholomondely (who may or may not have been having an affair with Diana). We also hear nothing, nothing at all of what it was like for Stephen to hear the news, his journey back to Woolcombe to deal with the funeral arrangements, his leave taking of Brigid, his return to the Surprise - which is, frankly, a heinous state of affairs!
So, please, I would like a little more background to the event from anyone's point of view (Diana, Stephen, Sophie, Brigid, the groom, the horses - the bridge even) and of any part of it, or all, if you are feeling wonderfully creative.
