What's really humbling is when you don't realize stuff has become dated until someone tell you it's now considered collectable. It's like you missed a whole step.

This kid sounds great though. I hope he has a wonderful experience in the university.

You have a great point there. It's amazing how he don't realize the things that have become outdated until someone finds out... This kid does just that. First time he saw an alarm clock with actual bells he was fascinated, and he never stops searching for "new" old things.

College around here is a completely different experience. For now he just commutes 20 miles everyday. Which is good, anyway, because he's always with his head in the clouds, so I'm not sure how he would do staying on his own...According to his mother just a few days ago he was leaving home for school in his pjs..

Wow, that's pretty amazing for 18. Good luck to him.

And what a great project for the two of you to do. I bet you find some really interesting stuff, as well as getting to spend time together.

we're having a great time, although not many great findings. There's a great collection of classical music, realy good old ones, Karajan's and all, and also very campy spanish music from the 50's, which is so not to any of our tastes. We've also found some tangos -good- and mexican -ugh- but as you say it's fun and we get to spend time together.

The silver lining to all this time I've been spending here is getting to be there for my nephews and niece. AFter ten years of being a holiday-time auntie I really love to spend time with them.
