Chasing Vinyls
The eldest balrogling is 18. He started college this fall: a double degree, bilingual, in maths and physics, while also continuing with his musical career (organ, and all the related subjects, which will end up granting him a third (or first) degree) and finding time to play and compose for his own heavy metal folk band. How does he do that? well, stamina of youth I guess.
Anyway, the thing is he's always been a kind of fan of vintage things, "arcane technologies" as he jokingly refers to things such as a clock that actually ticks, or, the object of fascination for several years now, old vinyls. I volunteered to help him, and we're currently spending part of our weekends digging into the old collections of dead relatives he's barely known.
I like it that I'm old enough to see the return of things we all considered had been run over by "progress", only to find out that they are now the object of admiration and wonder. It's real fun, and also humbling.
