A Weekend in the Life

Aug 02, 2009 10:19

When I arrived home from work on Friday, my internet connection was down - which also means my telephone was out (I’m a Vonage customer). I felt quite out of joint. At first I thought the whole internet was out, but then I started unplugging and re-plugging connector wires. Finally everything came back to life. Don't know if my unplugging and ( Read more... )

Good to hear from you Eddie. Sometimes I like a typical quiet weekend more than the action=packed variety.

Your birds reminded me of the hummingbirds I would occasionally see in our backyard in Texas. I haven't seen any since I moved on from Arlington. Now the bird I see most often is the Canadian goose.

Your raging summer makes me appreciate the cooler days we had here last week; couple of days I don't think it got over 70f. But now we're back in a row of 90-plus days. I admit that last year when it hit 90 I was all "Thank goodness it's finally warmed up!" but this year, after another set of Denver seasons, 90 hits me like a ton of bricks.

I hope the djembe makes it back from the shop in good condition and minimal expense.

next you're going to tell me you're looking at visiting some AFB in Antarctica "for research." i'll know you're really starting to think that denver's summers are just too much for you and you're looking for someplace "cooler."

I guess now would not be a good time to mention that I'm flying to Grand Forks, North Dakota, over Labor Day weekend?

we're in the throws of the Dog Days here in north carolina as well. (here at the homestead we're continually in the throws of the Cat Days and they prefer that it stay that way) weather fluctuates between hot and humid, sunny, hot and humid, and overcast, hot, humid with flashes of thunderstorms and rain that brings precious little relief ( ... )

Long or short, I always find your entries stimulating. So I'll gladly take whatever comes my way.

I've never done much in the canning arena. I look at all the fruits and vegetables at the farmer's marker with longing, but always seem to be only on the verge of trying. I think it's the lack of equipment and know-how, and only a concept of need.

Good massage therapists are a rare breed - people with a gift. If you have it, learning the basics couldn't hurt. But we all have to make choices along the way.

Hope all is well in your neck of the woods.

I think you sometimes sell yourself short. However, with all that man-knitting, your must have incredibly strong fingers and hands - in addition to a very compassionate nature. But that's just my take on it from a distance, and reading somewhat between the lines of what you choose to reveal. Stay healthy.

We have both Central Market and HEB here in Dallas. I'm always tempted in the bulk section of CM, especially the olive and cheese aisles. *sigh* :)

The olives and cheese and bread and produce and the gelatto stand and the samples, my God, the samples. I always have to make sure I've eaten before I go shopping there.

Hope all is well with you.

I don't remember who I got it from, but if you're the person who lifted the image from Mutts to create the icon, I'd be happy to credit you.
