This has been a week of rediscovering how things look in focus - through my left eye anyway. Since my right eye is not yet "fixed," the view has been rather unbalanced. Even walking is sometimes tricky, especially on stairs. But it's still an exciting view - sort of a preview of things to come. I haven't abandoned by glasses entirely. It still ( Read more... )

It is interesting that you have this "test period" to notice and appreciate the difference in the before and after.

I'm glad it is going well!

Of course, with new-and-improved eyesight, we'll be expecting more frequent LJ posts....

Thanks. I had no idea how dimly lit my world-view was. I can hardly wait for the 20/20 version.

What Scott said ... about the more-frequent posts. :)

My Dad had cataract surgery not long ago, with similar results ... he's very pleased. I'm so glad it's going well for you!

I knew you would be happy. Just a few more weeks to go, now, and you'll be a new(-ish) man!

I'm happy for you. I think our world is a beautiful sight to behold and feel sad for those who can't gape in wonder at its awe. Not being able to see correctly can contribute do some feelings of depression or isolation, I imagine. Maybe you'll have a new bounce in your step.

Thanks. I had no idea what a difference this would make, nor how dim my vision had become. I guess one just adjusts to what is - especially when it's sort of gradual. I'm looking forward to seeing real colors, instead of seeing through a yellow haze darkly.

most people just resort to travel or recreational drugs to experience this type of New Vision of Old Things. i dunno, surgery just seems so... so extreme in a sedation-plus-sharp-medical-instruments kinda way.

still, if it works for you, go for it. :)

I never did well with drugs - recreational or otherwise. Hadn't planned on the surgery, but then they gave me that little white pill and oooooh myyyyyy. I'm just going with the flow right now, and trying to stay alert for the next wave.

Believe me, cataracts are nothing to live with if they can be avoided. And apparently here in the 21st century, they can be.

Hope all is well in your world.
