i tried a fake neti pot tonight for the first time (fake bc i couldn't go out to the store to get one, so i used my squeezy nalgene with a sippy lid that fit my nostril perfectly) and that made my drainage go away.... for about 10 minutes. blech. felt great while it lasted!
*LOL* Sorry. That's some real creativity there. :-) (After my surgery, I had to "irrigate" my nose, which basically involved a giant syringe.) Try putting a hot washcloth over your face. I did this once and it, erm, cleared me out quite impressively. (Forget tissues, if it works, have paper towels ready.)
Walgreens has neti pots, btw, if you don't want to get fancy.
