Well, its been a while since my last post, and there's a lot to catch up with (including my anger at the fact that I'm stuck at my dads for another two weeks with an xbox that wont play the DLC for dragon age or borderlands) .
but for now, this post is about my zombie survival plan. I'm a little drunk atm, having consumed a few nice cold beers, but I'll do my best to get it written down before I forget about it and leave it another month.
Firstly, the information: We had to decide what sort of zombies we were fighting. And, because we consider them the most dangerous ones, we are fighting the fast, strong zombies, not the slow, shuffling ones.
Heres the plan:
Arming up and meeting up - the moment the zombie outbreak is recognised, all our group in town grab what weapons we can and head to a rendezvous. the best weapons I have at hand are two (field) hockey sticks and a large knife. Our rendezvous is conviently in the centre (and withing walking distance of all our houses) of us.
Supplies - the next step depends on how quickly we are there. If we are able to start the plan right at the beginning of the ourbreak, we head to the shops immediatly to gather as much supplies of non-perishable foods as we can, and fresh water. We want to do this at the start to avoid a) being overrun by zombies and b) panicked people or people attempting to hole up in the shopping centre and keep all supplies for themselves.
If however, we think it's too risky, we will move on to the next step, and gain supplies as later mentioned.
Meeting out of town - We have friends who live out of town, on their own land. They also have 4WD cars and they have some stock which - if we are kept there long enough and it is necessary - we can slaughter and preserve for food. ultimatly, though, the plan is to pack the cars, armour them with whatever we can, arm ourselves, and keep moving. While at this stage, we will barricade the house, get on the internet, and print ourselves out all the information we can find on the things we will need to know to put our plans into effect. We know that eventually the net will fail, and probably all electricity/water/other services will as well, so we are getting everything we think we might need while we can.
Short Term Plan - keep moving. drive around isolated areas (less people = less zombies, unless animals are also zombies, but thats something that we will have to modify our plans for if it comes to it). when we come to small towns, gather what supplies we can and keep on moving. we will probably try to trade in some of our cars and upgrade to a bus.
it's at this point that I need to state some of our rules.
1. Never, EVER, split the party.
2. if someone needs to use a toilet or something, go in groups of at least 3. We all know that two always get gotten. and they never go fully out of sight (when out bush or whatever)
3. the moment someone is bitten, thats it. no mercy. Of course, if its possible in this zombie apocalypse for, say, amputation rather than death, then yeah. but that depends on if its the supernatural or virus zombies we are talking about here. Still, whatever happens needs to be quick, and merciless.
4. there is to be no arguments over rationing of supplies, or work. All people get equal supplies, and all people do equal work.
5. noise and lights are kept to an absaloute minimum. We do not want to attract attention.
once we get to our long term plan (or if we shack up somewhere on land), the following rules also apply:
6. there is to be strict quarantine and monitoring every time people leave the base and come back. No exceptions.
7. there are to be no weapons allowed in the actual living/recreational areas.
Long term plan - Ideally, we would like to have a cruise ship set up, never so far off shore that we cannot see land. On this ship, we will have at least 30 people (ideally), with as best a mix of genders as we can have. We intend to transport what we need to create a hydroponic system to grow vegetables, and we will also ensure we have supplies to fish. A friend has explained how we can generate energy using the oceans waves(he can build it for us, but if all else fails, thats what out previously mentioned internet zombie bible is for) to run the basics of what we need for the ship.
we've picked a ship because traditionally, zombies cannot cross water. even if they do, we consider water the safest place to be because a) it wil make it more difficult for them to track/scent us and b) it will be more difficult for them to reach us.
we essentially want to be isolated, but with the capability of producing our own supplies. in the end, our ship doesnt really need to move. if we get it in the right spot around the country, storms will be a minimal hassle and we can hang out offshore, but with the lifeboats in range of the shore if we need.
so I'm sure that I've left some of it out, but off the top of my head (I'm away from home and haven't got what I wrote down initally with me) thats pretty much it.
